Was at Headingley today, lovely day out, shame about the cricket. Some of our batsmen appeared to be going for glory instead of just concentrating on keeping the wickets and grinding out the runs. Had we done that we’d have done ok. Even at the end, we only needed 20 which was a few sixes/ boundaries, which Stokes could have managed as shown when he went for it. Shame Woods folded so easily, but then he should never have been in that position.
It certainly was a disappointment, and you are spot on, with what seemed a fairly low score to chase, they should have just ground it out rather than go for glory. Bairstow getting out probably set the jitters going, feeling they had to start making up for his dismissal. Can't see Vince keeping his place, looks the part, but just can't seem to stop getting out cheaply.
Considering how the Aussies were playing earlier, a target of 286 is definitely better than England could've hoped for. It's a slow pitch though, it'll take some work.
Just put a pound on England at 4-1, good odds if they can get a grip. Vince can't play again surely after this.
Can't believe how poorly we bowled the first half of their innings. Far too short. All the experts had us down to win after their innings, but it was obvious the ball would do a lot in those conditions if you bowl in the right areas. Not confident of qualifying now. One win vs India or NZ could do it, but not playing well.
And now Moeen's gone. I thought that Archer lad was supposed to be able to bat? He's coming in at no. 10
