Starting tomorrow and I'm particularly excited, the one day format is so much more entertaining nowadays. Am optimistic about England's prospects but ultimately fear the hype and favourites label will count against us so can see something like a semi-final exit but let's see.

Bar the Aussie result on Saturday we've shown how we can turn games around if we've been in a tricky situation so we could and should go all the way this time.
So semi final balls up it is!!

England put 311 up, very gettable by SA. Oh, and Moeen Ali owes us some runs.

Unbelievable catch by Stokes for the 7th wicket. You must see it.

Made it hard for himself by being too far in but wow, what a recovery.

    Over 80 runs. 2 wickets. 2 catches.

Only second time ever in a World Cup game.

Yeah great performance under pressure as favourites, hosts and the opening game. I do think we are the strongest team going into it, but once in the semis, anyone can have a good day.

I was a bit surprised at the margin of the win, when I went to bed SA were 112-2 or something like that after 20 overs, and I thought they were favourites to get the win. Woke up to a convincing result for England. As already mentioned what a catch of Stokes, and good bowling by Archer..

It is great to get a win under our belts, show everyone we are the real deal and its not all hype. It will hopefully help with the nerves too, as you can't help being nervous when you are favourites in a home World Cup.

Pakistan has posted a big total for England to chase 349 to win.

Would be a record in World Cups should they do it. This will be a test of our ability - can only see it going one of two ways - either we chase it down with 2-3 overs to spare or we'll be all out for less than 200.

Don't they only have 4 front line bowlers? Should be ok, though you'd be happy chasing that total at Trent Bridge, it seems our fielding wasn't as good as it has been and we've given them 20-30 more than they should have got.

And Bairstow gone now. Might need a contribution from Moeen at this rate...
