A couple of hours ago people were claiming it was over for England and if we won it would only be through luck!

Thinking ahead, I wonder what the bowling attack will be and who to put into the number 3 slot. For me Tongue in for Robinson and it's a toss of the coin for playing either Anderson or Broad. Number 3 I have no idea. Lawrence was brought in to the squad and not sure of his record there

good result in the end but by christ they made it difficult for themselves.

not one who is glued to cricket but bairstow should be replaced, can excuse the odd missed catch but he seems to be making a habit of it and his batting was bad today, maybe the dropped/missed catches playing on his mind?...from what i have seen before he is better than that.

while it could be good to go for results rather than boring draws it does not do my blood pressure any favours.

I think moving forward either Duckett or Crawley have to step down. They've had enough chances. I would say Duckett.
I used to like Lees but I would give Lawrence another go.

    My team would be...

    Crawley
    Duckett
    Hain
    Root
    Brook
    Stokes
    Foakes/Rew
    Woakes
    Wood
    Ahmed
    Broad

I'm banking on Stokes being fit enough to bowl after this 9 day rest. If not, Hain out and Tongue in.

Yes imho Foakes should probably play...

Does Bairstow hold his place on batting??

Ali it seems is our only spinner.

I do wonder also about the openers, Crawley has had his chances..

    Duckett or Crawley...one needs dropping.
I'd actually drop Bairstow too. Obviously bring in Foakes. This Aussie team are there for the taking.

I don't usually pop in here, but specifically visited now to see if anyone else thought Johnny Bairstow should be left out!

My problem is that I stopped following county cricket years ago so I don't have a scooby as to if there is anyone suitable to replace him.

Foakes is the best wicket keeper in the country. His batting has been poor this season, he hit a hundred a few weeks ago, so maybe he’s starting to come into form. Nothing of note since.

Rew isn’t far behind him talent wise behind the stumps, but he is in much better form with the bat. The downside is he’s just a kid and inexperienced.
