What an odd competition this WTC is. I read that South Africa played 12 tests in this cycle, avoiding Australia and England and playing and drawing with India in SA. Victories against Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and West Indies saw them through.
England played 22 tests including big series against Australia (home draw)and India (away big loss). Won the other series against New Zealand, West Indies and Pakistan.

I got offered a ticket ( £50 ) to go to this today in the stand next to the pavilion. I refused it.

Looks like some very good bowling from 2 excellent bowling teams. Both need to improve their betting but when you can rely on your bowlers you don't need a mountain of runs.
Well done South Africa. Not sure of the status of this competition but won something at last.
This match shows how good Test Cricket is, the ebb and flow, both sides in the ascendent and one time or another and then the decisive innings to win the game..... bish, bash, bosh can't compete....
I think it shows when a team plays “ test” cricket, they can win a test
