Pretty evenly balanced first day. Won’t really know until England bat, then, as always with us, it will be run rate (confident we will be ahead of the Kiwi rate, unless they go mad for the last couple of wickets) v wickets lost.

I can't watch the cricket currently because I have a Virgin Media subscription which used to include BT Sports, but now doesn't include TNT sports - no notification that it would be withdrawn. On asking why it had been we were told we'd have to pay another £16 a month on top of the already extortionate subscription to get it back. ****s. I've always resisted up to now, but I'm getting the dodgy box. ****'em.
