Shame we couldn't nick 1 out tonight, can't believe we didn't let Jimmy have the ball. No movement off the pitch or swing, hopefully there's some cloud cover tomorrow or it could be a long time in the field !
Day 1 Ashes England 8 - 393 declared. Australia 0-14 overnight. Summary - England off to a good start. Nothing wrong with 300 plus on day one. Australia survives any loss of wicket to settle for 0-14 overnight. The game is evenly poised for a day two start.
Raining a bit here in Warwickshire, forecast to finish soon but cloudy today, with a bit of humidity. Swing bowling! Loads of people who just don’t get the new regime in English cricket criticising the declaration.
3 consecutive maidens to start the day. There were two maidens in the entire English innings. These Aussies are so old fashioned!
Warner, bowled Broad. What a surprise. Labushagne, apparently the best rated batsman in the world, gone first ball. what fun.
It's Bazball, get with it. As Mark Taylor just said, the thing he enjoys about Stokes's captaincy is that he does all the things the opposition wouldn't want him to do.
Yeh mate. Just waiting for that lovely English weather to intervene. Rain forecast for next three days. Weather trumps Bazzball every time.
Nah HB. Was just catching the frenzy of the AFL. Richmond got home against the Saints. Just finished. Now onto the delirium of the cricket. Excitement personified .... NOT! (Oh look, the grass has grown 1/4 of a millimetre. Wow! )
What a very satisfying session of cricket that was. Two different approaches to the game head to head. Brilliant.
Not taking anything away from England a.t.m., but no matter the result, there's one thing this test will have achieved. More important than an English win (or Oz win) and that's the memory of Bob Willis and his legacy of bringing about greater awareness of prostate cancer and raising funds to help beat this wretched disease. RIP Bob, the man with the longest(?) and most arced run-up. Thanks for the memories.
Exactly. England playing a hybrid of T20 and Test cricket and we're sticking to the more conventional watch the balls go by and occasionally hit for one, two or four every second or third over. At least there aren't as many spectators asleep this time. Thanks to Bazza.
