Rain! This really is a proper Test match.
What’s all this rain! It’s glorious sunshine here in Dorset.
If England get batting through this first innings with a decent score, has all the hallmarks of a traditional test draw!

It’s really odd. A bit overcast here this morning, less than 100 miles from Lords, and bright sunshine this afternoon and evening. Not a hint of rain. This country is weird.

Another gone.

We're really not much kop at test cricket any more are we?
Yeah, we are one of the top sides.

I can only think of India that have beaten us in the last few years?

That was a terrible shot by Lawrence, mind.

The techniques of some of the England players leave a lot to be desired, Sibley in particular. Pope is a proper player, but he's another of those taking guard on off stump, which is nonsense.

Been pottering around, only just looked at the score.

For ****s sake.

Just looked at the wickets. Some basic stuff wrong all round, but Lawrence’s shot was just diabolical.

Sometimes only Terry Thomas can put it into words.

All 4 batsmen who have lost their wickets today only have themselves to blame. They were all caught flat footed back in the crease, playing loose shots or not playing a shot, at all. Southee wasn't bowling brilliantly, he was simply bowling full and letting our batsmen do the work for him <doh>

Well played Rory Burns, pity a few others didn't show they same application in how to bat........

103 behind, the England bowlers have got to get a few early wickets to halt NZ's progress towards a declaration that would put more pressure on the top order.......

What do people expect when we continuously pick under strength teams against good sides?
No point being over critical (fat chance with any England team in any sport) till we pick pur strongest side.

Hard to see a result here, NZ can't risk a 'generous' declaration and may be hard pressed to bowl England out in two sessions or less. The full lost day has spoiled what could have been a close finish...
