Find out the most hated place in the UK

London has been awarded the uncertain honour of topping the list of the most hated urban centre in the UK.
Crap Towns Returns, back by âunpopular demandâ ten years after its first version was published, has compiled the worst 50 places to live in the country.
The capital edged ahead of Bradford and Chipping Norton to top the standings, while 2003′s âwinnerâ Hull was not even in the top 50 this time round.
Sam Jordison, co-founder and editor of Crap Towns, said Londoners had âno idea whatâs happening in the rest of the countryâ.

âThey take a lot of what works in Britain, but you donât see much sign of them putting anything back. I think thatâs what lies behind the rage of a lot of the nominations,â he told the Guardian.
âA lot of the entries for other places are what you might call affectionate hatred, as you might tease a member of the family but know you have to put up with them. Thatâs not the case with London â the hatred is real.â
Crap Towns produces its list based on interviews with members of the public, taking in house prices, crime statistics, transport and what it calls unbearable snobbery.
Among the first-hand impressions included in this yearâs book are âMy friends and I once spent an evening in Thetford. Some people threw a cucumber at usâ, and âSouthampton: the only place in the UK Iâve ever seen someone get on a bus and nonchalantly spark up a crack pipeâ.
Crap Towns: The top 10
1 London
2 Bradford
3 Chipping Norton
4 Southampton
5 York
6 Gibraltar (technically a British Overseas Territory and not part of the UK)
7 Coventry
8 Nuneaton
9 High Wycombe
10 Stoke-on-Trent
