Btw, on that women's speed skating event. The speed they are doing is over 1500m and the winning time was 1m 53.51. Which, from my pathetic arithmetic, equates to an average of 29.57 mph from a standing start. Jeez, is that quick. The Dutch girl who won it is normally a short track skater, but she obviously trains over the longer distances, and her outright speed from short track helped her win. She wasn't even that much out of breath, from what I could see.
A clean sweep by the Dutch, by the way. Guess that tradition of skating on their frozen rivers and canals, during the little ice age, lives on.
By comparison, the world record for men's 1500m in athletics is 3m 26.00, held by Hicham El Guerrouj since 1998.
