At my age, and that of a few of us on here! we are glad to have the " wise old man syndrome" ... I am sure my youngest daughter is glad she got jabbed ... she survived not getting it although well into double figures of close and " in laws family" succumbed until 3 weeks ago it hit her for 6 ! for 3 or 4 days! The omicron variant was less lethal to those who had been jabbed .. but deadly to a lot 8 out of ten ... 9 out of ten who had not been jabbed .
people say that over the years you will know when you get the flu it is like serious... bed aches pains etc etc ... most have just a heavy cold!
Omicron developed in unjabbed mostly [ most mutations of virus do ] Process is relatively simple but wont explain it ...look it up! Omicron is evolving as we read this, but every evolution weakens them picking path of least resistance

losing a thread is not done often but I followed it and contributed. However my interest waned when it became repetitive and same anti vax comments had nopoint to them as was generally a repeat, or applied to only a very SMALL segment of bs3 in contradiction to what was happening in the rest of UK.
I will make this my last comment on this thread.. until the next lock down ...lol

Well it seems it's no longer of interest to those that see it disappear away from the media, vanished into thin air.. Scaremongering is no longer worthy.
Mandatory vaccines to NHS & care workers scrapped. Hardly any news regarding over filled hospitals as was just a few weeks ago. all of a sudden no longer an issue.
The gullible will always be gullible, believe and do everything they're told by those that like to take control, captivated via main stream media hysteria.
Some I Imagine can't wait for the next lock down......I hate to think how the reaction of some would be if a Russian variant was headlined....
If you want to shut this thread down Wiz, entirely your call........ it seems the whole Corona Virus/ Covid 19 , with a flick of a switch, has conveniently disappeared..

It's not a prominent action or thought with me, I am entirely aware Covid is a worldwide disaster and I don't wish for the discussion to be sidelined, it was suggested by a member that the thread had run its course and maybe needed to be closed, I responded by keeping it and the issue open with an explanation.

I have no desire to close any thread unless, at a risk of repeating myself any forum or humanity rules are broken, always remember you guys are in charge and I like it that way.

COVID figures rising across the UK , 1 in 25 now infected, it appears it hasn’t gone away , there are also signs of a new variant, which has become the most common strain - hardly surprising, considering all measures to prevent the spread have been removed. Meanwhile one of the agencies who study COVID, along with other diseases is having its government funding removed. Will they never learn.

Got to learn to live with it mate....Being infected is one thing (and will be common as will variants), being extremely ill or dying is another..
Can't keep locking the Country down or restricting peoples freedom with useless measures.....we need to treat it as a cold, or flu symptom, if those that are worried should dose up on vaccines.... but let the rest of us get on with it..IMO..

I’m sure that we will agree to disagree on some of the things that have gone before, but I’m in total agreement with this post 1for!

I am still dealing with the effects of covid but it has to be accepted that it is likely to become the same as cold and flu - and we all should deal with it as such.

In the last two weeks 2 close friends and 2 acquaintances have tested positive; the worst one felt as though she’d been hit by a bus for a week. The others had cold like symptoms for a few days. Hopefully, in general, that is what it will be like in future.

If anyone gets Covid I would recommend getting on the Oxford Panoramic Anti Viral trial. You need to be over 50 or have an underlying health condition. I caught covid recently and by the end of day 3 I was feeling pretty lousy and my symptoms were getting quite rapidly worse. Continuous coughing, short of breath and my chest felt it was on fire. After taking the anti virals for 24 hours my symptoms rapidly improved by the morning of day 4 and were completely gone by day 5. Didn't test negative until day 7 but the anti virals alleviated all my symptoms and given I have a number of risk factors helped ensure a good outcome

Agree we have to live with it, but that’s not to be confused with burying our heads in the sand, or pretending it doesn’t exist and has gone away.
We aren’t yet in a place to treat it like a cold or flu, with any luck we will be before too long, but if people are complacent it may come back and bite us.

Well, I don't really seeing many people walking around taking measures, so the word complacent is out of the window..
Two weeks of Ukraine news put a back seat to covid, but now that's not so excusive news, covid has reappeared again... strange that!!
IMO, More to worry about, with fuel bills, home and travel....Cost of living going through the roof......For people with low income, the hype of covid is the least of their worries.....
This is no BS....of the people that I know, Those that's had the worst symptoms are those that have had the jab.....not to say that's the norm, but just the people I know that's contracted it or tested positive..
Those I know (quite a few), that's not had the jab have had very mild cold like symptoms (myself included).
Like I said, those that have the most concerns should take measures, vaccines, masks, isolation etc....but let the rest of us get on with it..

The fact many aren’t taking measures is an indication that are being complacent, and burying their heads in the sand, maybe that’s why the numbers are increasing?, obviously “being lead by the science” is no longer needed, as most scientists are recommending we still follow basic measures , let’s hope you are right & the scientists are wrong. If you are wrong we may find come winter we are having to do the very things your averse to & all because some were to arrogant to listen to the science.

Seems to be the "Winter Norm", with over crowded wards, which has been happening for decades...(flu, colds, respiratory issues etc) nothing new..
I don't see those fleeing out of Ukraine taking much notice of the so say scientists, more to concern themselves with, yet it's a so say world pandemic....
I think, not only have the scientists lost their grip but also the over hype of the media....."wine party MP's" have never worried about it..IMO, it's all been prolonged enough!!

The Ukrainians have much more immediate concerns than COVID, like is a bomb going to land on my head, is there going to be anything left of their country, & the worlds attention rightly also has to concern ourselves with their plight.

We are intelligent enough though as individuals to realise though that COVID still needs addressing , now you may well be right, my point is why take the chance, we can and should still take basic measures, mask wearing in public , good hygiene and hand washing, social distancing etc, in an effort to do all we can to ensure we don’t have to be mandated to do them again, and worse possibly, maybe even partial lock downs etc, surely it’s not too much to ask for, that people just use common decency, and concern for others, or maybe it is.

For me learning to live with COVID doesn’t mean pretending it doesn’t exist or has gone away , it means adopting new behaviour to ensure we never have to return to the dark days of lockdown etc.

Well, I've never been a person to stand and cough over people, social distancing imo should be law enforced (stuff all, to do with covid)!! good hygiene and hand washing didn't require Covid to change my behaviour..that's just my basic principal, to prevent any germs.....one thing I will refuse is mask wearing..I'd rather not enter a place than to wear a mask....which has been my motto & rule throughout the medias scaremongering past two years..

So you can see my point about others not abiding by basic good manners, social distancing, and good hygiene, which many don’t, I wear a mask out of consideration for others, & must admit it annoys me if others don’t in confined spaces, if you chose not to go into enclosed spaces then obviously no need to wear one.
