Priti Patel a disaster as expected, confirming why she's been hidden away so long

Minimum requirement was to deliver an update on numbers. She started speaking numbers that don't exist. Failure.

Then she got passive aggressive with the questions implying people are wrong to be upset about NHS staff deaths. Psychopathic.
How do you know the numbers don't exist?

Did she imply that people shouldn't get upset about NHS staff deaths or did she imply that most grown up people should expect them?

It's one thing expecting them, its completely another to accept them.

Especially considering the Ppe deficiencies and the realisation that at least some could have been prevented.

Do you think the Government are refusing to pay for PPE or do you think maybe the Pandemic has caused a world wide shortage?

I feel they where slow to react and got the initial priorities wrong.

Continued underfunding and cutbacks left the service woefully unprepared.
Which countries were prepared for this?

Any views on the PPE situation, refusing to pay or just not enough supply anywhere?

Greece.

Economy and health service devastated by the economic crisis but the moment there was a death they started testing every person entering the country and told them all to isolate for 14 days.

Predicted they will have a total of 400 deaths from the virus.

To this day there still isn't a single person being checked at UK airports. Only the collapse of the flight industry has slowed imported cases.

And if we had tested millions more what would we have done with them, lock them down, oh we are already doing that.
Maybe cured them, nope there is no vaccine.
Been able to say "look, we have had two million cases but only 15000 deaths, we have a great success rate" not really helping is it.
This many people have had the virus and recovered so can't get it again (not yet proved) but can still carry it so not really helpful.

What does testing actually do?

A bit of both, supply has dried up,

I'm not 100% on how difficult the masks etc are to make, but being as there are local groups making them they cant be massively complicated.

Youd hope that the leaders of our country being the best and the brightest could have something up and running quickly in the production department.

I'm not having a go at the government, they've not done badly, in these circumstances you roll the dice and hope the descions you make are the right ones.

Great answer, do you have a graph?

Do you have a clue?

Just a complete coincidence that the WHO recommends testing and tracing, and the countries that have done that have fewer deaths then?

"Nothing more the Tories could have done. I mean they could have followed the advice of experts but who would have thought of doing that without hindsight?"

BTW vaccines are not cures anyway.

I heard on the radio on hmmm, Wednesday i think, that people are making them with 3D printers, this would probably be at a rate of 1 every 3 mins or so, not very helpful.
The truth is that the PPE business, like any other, is geared up for supply/demand, unfortunately the present demand is way beyond their capacity to supply and idiots who went out and bought existing stock to wear whist driving around in their car haven't helped.
This is not a UK only problem.
