But my main argument has not been about mortgage, council tax and utilities and never has been, as I said earlier neither have I used Farage to support my argument - anyone that has read my posts will know all that. Although I did write about incentives in the early days of DD's and the loss of jobs.
I also don't dispute the use of card payments, but all customers should be given a choice, those choices are gradually being removed. My football club has gone cashless, some pubs are going cashless, new venues are going cashless, car parks are going cashless, trains will be cashless once all the ticket offices close, Dartford Toll went cashless, that is not a choice.
Cashless advanced 10 years due to covid, the card companies were already paying incentives for retailers to go cashless before covid, I can't be arsed to look it up, but I know they got fined for it.
Now though it's being railroaded through by the banks and card companies because they have their own financial agendas, this will also leave a digital footprint to everything, which also could aid a government and the authorities, whatever it's future intentions. As I've said in the past, the Canadian government showed it's intentions in that area over protestors.
France couldn't replace their surveillance cameras quick enough during the riots, as stated by their mayor, imagine what they will be like once everyone has gone digital.
Edit: I should add, when cards first came in, shops had to keep payment vouchers so your card details could be wanded through if the systems went down, I doubt any retailer has these vouchers anymore - which means when the systems go down, everyone is fooked.
true story this forgot to take my card and cash out of pocket the other before it went in the wash….cash looked the same perfect my card wouldn’t work in cash points….cheap as fk
