Accidents organ failures beatings of humans all stopped for covid I guess.......can I also ask how many intensive care beds you had in said hospital dude......reason I ask is when my dad was in intensive care for kidney failure there was 8 beds in intestine care unit in what is one of wales largest hospitals......each bed was always used giving it a 100 percent full house and yes everyone had a different reason for being there.......all pre covid that and all and does it ever change......probably not I say given the low number of beds with a very large number of people in the area it serves

We usually run at about 70 to 80% occupancy. We never hit 100% even at the worst of the peaks. But you don't have to hit 100% for it to be a problem though.

Is that because people are better off dying than having the costs of intensive care treatment.........out of interest how much would an intensive care all inclusive stay cost these days in the land of the free

God! I don't even know and don't want to find out. Put it this way, cost us about $5k just to give birth to our last child and that was 13 years ago. Intensive would be far more expensive.

Worse if you don't have insurance. Hospitals charge many times more than what they expect to get paid knowing insurance companies will negotiate them down. If you don't have insurance they'll screw you over and little you can do to combat it.

Yeah, American system sucks. Double or more cost of healthcare than any other country even taking taxes paid into account. Highest infant mortality of any developed country. Lowest life expectancy of any western developed country.

I work in a hospital back during the last big peak in late Feb where beds were filling up, there were plenty of people who had been vaccinated who got sick but almost none who were in intensive care who had received vaccination. We never had more than one person in intensive care who had been fully vaccinated at a time and every single one of those had other factors like diabetes or obesity.

There were a lot of people who hadn't been vaccinated in intensive care with covid. (Despite 70% of people being vaccinated in this area).


It doesn't look like the vaccine prevented many people getting the virus but it sure as hell stopped people getting it as severely.

A lot of vaccines work that way. The flu shot only averages a 50% reduction in your chance to catch the flu (depending on the year). 50% may sound hardly worthwhile... But it's not the point.

The point of the flu shot and why it's beneficial is that if you do get the flu and you had the shot, it will be much less severe.


I don't know what percentage of cases the COVID shot blocks. It started out surprisingly effective (can't remember if in the 80's or 90's... But much higher than Flu) but as the virus kept mutating as more and more people got it, it became less effective at preventing transmission. Did help substantially lower symptoms though.
