The $16bn loss is from pulling out of Russia, but despite that, they have still made $6.2bn in profit in the first 3 months of 2022

As I understand it, that $16bn loss is from the overall value of the company due to pulling out of Russia. But like you say, their operating profit is still at $6.2bn for the first three months of the year.

If that continues, as it's likely to do, then they are projected to make $25bn in operating profits from Oil and Gas.

Boris won't tax em though.

Labour’s plans would see a £1.2bn levy on the energy companies to alleviate the massive hikes for EVERY person in the UK.

Even if it was on BP alone, they still would have made £5bn in the first three months of the year
