Certain parts of the media do create a them and us situation, they thrive off it because it creates traffic.

If you’d read what I’d written you would have seen that I’d already said that more LA’s including cornwall, need to be doing more to spread the load of refugee housing.

You’ve got a massive chip on your shoulder about me though. Your only argument comes down to me living in cornwall and the car I drive. Lol.

As for having a chip on my shoulder about you, I've told you clearly in the past I've got no time for you. I should put you on ignore like PNP does, but it's not my style. Everything about you just shouts hypocrite. You don't care about the refugees. so stop pretending you do, they are just a political tool to you.

The reality is that you’ve got a chip on your shoulder about me, so instead of concentrating on the issue at hand, you’ve got angry and made it all about me instead.

You’re making all sorts of assumptions and dragging up all kinds of irrelevant nonsense. In summary you’re talking **** mate, that’s the nub of it here. <ok>

Look mate, if you want to post bolloxs like that, go join Duncs and the rest, otherwise keep it off here. This isn't your echo chamber, and it's certainly not mine, I doubt many support my view, but at least I give an answer to the problems or try to, no matter how unrealistic they might seem.

I don’t think Dunc and co would agree with me either lol.

As much as you’re losing your **** with me, we actually agree on there needing to be some better solutions to this.

But anyway, I’ve got no desire to continue this bickering and this is the Rona thread so I’ll keep it off here in future <ok>

Yeah I hear you. I think that story was just about reporting the people trying to block that lifeboat. But too much of the media is simply about whipping up emotions without actually drilling down into the underlying issues and solutions . <ok>

And just like that Pinkie and Brb were friends again, lol

I like to think that he and I are the sort that could have a ding dong and then settle down and share a swift half of stout together <laugh>

A similar story was done before, by donga around Farage. It just pisses me off and helps no one. I see no reason why lifeboats shouldn't help, but government need to do it properly and make it's intentions known openly. Also if we can't stop the refugees from crossing the channel illegally, then we may as well offer a refugee ship/ferry to do it legally, afterall it's been done illegally 23,000 times this year, so let's stop fooking about and sort it, before any more lives are lost. As I use to say in business, don't bring me problems, bring me solutions. <ok>

Keep this on the politics fred please mate <whistle>

I agree with you btw, we’re talking about safe passage here. Refugees aren’t illegal, everybody has the right to claim asylum from persecution.

It’s a similar story in lots of tourist areas. People want to buy up the houses for weekend retreats or to make an income from
Holiday lets, the remaining housing stock is in huge demand and it pushes up the prices in house prices and rents.

Add to that that many coastal areas are also economically deprived allow wage areas and it exacerbates the problem. Brb thinks cornwall is this idyllic rural place where people go to escape, but the reality is that it is a post industrial landscape, with low wages, high levels of deprivation and a crisis in housing stock
yeah i know as my parents used to live just up the road from Holywell Bay . lots of the villages / towns down the centre are a bit grim tbh .

About pinkie been a ****?
I think we can all agree on that bro :emoticon-0150-hands

The nearest town to me has a child poverty rate or 41% on a par with some of the most deprived areas of London and Birmingham. And I think Cornwall has some of most deprived areas in the top (or bottom) 10% ranked in the Uk

A bit like parts of Wales that have suffered after the end of coal mining, Cornwall is still feeling the effects of the end of tin mining.

It’s a county of contrasts really, there is some amazing natural beauty, but some pockets of absolute deprivation. It’s certainly not the place to move to for the easy life, unless you’re minted of course.
