See, now my mind questions what you say, you state that 'weasel' Hancock was woefully unprepared for this, but how would you have expected him to be prepared for it, the whole of Europe were unprepared for this, not just Hancock, it sounds as though you are just casting a political sword, rather than wanting to guage the failings fairly.

Note that I have acknowledged failings.

You only have to look at South Korea for evidence of Europe's including the UK under that geographical umbrella of failings. You might say, but, but China, yeah but the world allowed China to produce half of the world's PPE. Sorry what was that, Germany, you ask, but again, they withheld all PPE for a period of two weeks, until the EU brought them back into check.

Yeah, I know the 'Tories' and people will nit pick holes in my logic, but how does it help the crisis, we were ALL to blame.

We failed the NHS, we failed our manufacturing industry for the want of everything Chinese, even Germany left us behind, for our want of everything via EU freedom of movement, that very movement that has now killed thousands up on thousands of people, not just in the UK, but Spain, Italy, the list is endless, the consequence of a free market, that we all freely participated in. We ALL failed to act sooner.

it's taken me this long to catch up to 60 pages (you guys have been talking a lot since bank holiday but i'm not sure china was producing enough PPE/masks for a while (i know there was a huge shortage in HK and loads of people were buying the load and selling them along, there was massive lines for masks since every man and his dog loves to wear one).

I don't know if the government forced loads of factories to suddenly make loads of masks or whether the stock piling was the real issue but as you say, theres loads of PPE around in china now

Also the chinese are very casually racist in general.

<yikes> wtf!

Number of deaths in the U.S. went up 2336 in one day ffs! How the fck is that acceptable?

And there are genuinely people in the administration who think the situation is improving <doh>

Current table of the Special Club:

1) U.S. 28,383 dead
2) Italy 21,645 dead
3) Spain 18, 708 dead
4) UK... reporting 12,868 (but likely to be around 18,000 due to 11 day lag in figures)
5) France 17, 167

All qualifying for the Champions League of cluster fcks.

Honourable mentions to China and Iran who are currently being investigated for irregular betting patterns.

Massive gap between the Top 5 and the rest whose death total is only 30% (4500). Yep a massive 12,500 gap! <yikes>

But hey, the UK response has been great.

tbf to the yanks they do have 5 times the number of our people so they are actually doing better than us by having less than half our dead numbers although i suspect not including any people who aren't cared about in the U.S. system (or ours for that matter e.g. care home deaths)

They have about double our deaths but I take your point. There is more to factor in than populations only though. E.g. when it started in each country, that initial response or lack of and then the daily rates of death and the trends that followed. Also, how each State is doing - e.g. California's response has been very good so their numbers are relatively low whereas Michigan's is more than double and they have a lower population density. And of course the nation's orange leader hasn't helped.

I used to think that until I started spending time in Scotland, especially the west coast. It’s very rare they have a nice day. That was probably the determining factor for her moving in with me. Climate change has really helped us up here, it’s barely snowed the last few year and we used to locked in for days if not a week or so. The summers are great too. I’m off to throw some more plastic in the ocean. It’s like throwing coal on the fire.

oh that was more for tels black people discriminated against in the BBC article (was something on my mind).

I wouldn't say people are out and out racists whereby they are violent or shout **** at black people, but there are lots of underlying racial tones, looking down on black people from most of the chinese i have encountered and negative stereotypes. So maybe, making fun of them (not necessarily to their face) or stereotyping them so more casual rather than KKK style.
