The virus is mainly transmitted by people coughing and spreading the virus in the air, either directly from person to person or via it landing on surfaces and being picked up. So if someone isn’t symptomatic post having the virus i.e. not coughing and spluttering, they won’t be spreading it, assuming their personal hygiene is what it should be.The way to ensure this and reduce the risk even further is to get people to wear masks. Many seem to think the masks are merely for protection, but it also stops infected people pushing the virus into the air.

As for reinfection. There is no treatment for this disease, so therefore the ONLY way for the body to defeat it, is with its own immune system. The white blood cells that end up produced the antibodies specifically for this virus, remain within your body but dormant after you’ve had it, until such times you may become exposed to the same virus again, and then they reactivate. That’s how the body’s immune system works. Some immunity lasts a lifetime, others a number of years, depends on the virus. Studies on other types of coronavirus show that its likely to last a number of years. All of which means, you can get reinfected with any virus a second time, but your bodies immune system will almost certainly see the virus off extremely quickly, most wouldn’t even know.

Yes but that would require knowing you have the virus which means being tested.

The problem as you say is that a lot of ppl who wear masks do so with some misguided notion it's for protection. Those that have had the virus may be thinking it's unnecessary and those that have the virus currently may not even know they have it. There's no clear message on it either, unfortunately.

Well yes, testing is key.

Having now read last nights posts though, I realise that the WHO mantra of ‘test, test, test’ and the nations who’ve tested rigorously, traced and isolated have come out of this by far the least affected, was trumped by a bloke from Oldham who works on forklifts.

See, this is what I hate about the modern world. In my day, if men couldn’t resolve their differences any other way, they fought toe to toe, with fists.

I’m a bit old for all that now though. And **** worrying if the other **** is carrying a blade.
Yeah my backs a bit fragile for that now. I’ll send a stand-in if it comes to it.

Pretty sure the Kray gang were a bit stabby stabby, back in the day, though. When men were men or something like that.

Cheers. So for someone such as myself who believes, that I've not had the virus, until a test proves one way or another, but let's assume a test confirmed I haven't had the virus, would I fall into a category, at risk of catching the virus and unknown affects of doing so - therefore would I have to remain in lockdown or be free to roam once it's lifted. It's so confusing.

Firstly, the only way of finding out if you’ve had the virus, is by testing to see if you’ve got the antibodies in your system that see off CV-19. That antibody test doesn’t yet exist (the Govt bought 18m of them, but they errrrmmm, don’t work) Once a reliable test is produced then mass testing across the population would be a game changer.

For anyone who hasn’t had it, and is vulnerable, then the risk of infection and it’s outcome, remains the same. This only dramatically changes when there’s either a vaccine, or when the majority of the population have already had it, and so it’s means of transferring across the population becomes much less.

'trumped' being the right word lol. It would make a really good verb for the denyers generally <laugh>

US unemployment hits 15%. Holy moly.

Unfortunately the orange maniac will use those figures as a reason why they have to open up the economy too soon.

Predicted to hit 20%
28 million job losses in a couple of weeks time <yikes>.
At the beginning of this it predicted less than that worldwide !

This is what happens when you have practically zero employment rights.

Trump is desperate to see things open back up, shame he didn’t seem to understand it’s not his call the other day, when he made the mistake of thinking he’s a dictator. He’ll start calling out individual Governers soon, if they don’t choose to open up in the timescale he demands, no doubt accusing them of trying to sabotage his re-election, as it’s all about him obvs.

I saw an interview earlier today, where they was discussing the need for fruit pickers, obviously it was mentioned where they were talking of flying in Eastern Europeans. It's the soft fruit season, so i'm guessing stuff like Strawberries etc. There was talk of allowing furlough employees, being able to earn additional income if they wanted to do it, on top of their 80%, as long has their employers had no objections, thoughts?

I know some people are desperate to get out the family home, probably a good alternative for those that fancy it.
