Very interesting [HASHTAG]#nographs[/HASHTAG]

relating to seasonal respiratory tract infections and our immune system's dependence on vitamin D from sunlight (the by far, best vitamin D)

"Solar radiation triggers robust seasonal vitamin D production in the skin; vitamin D deficiency is common in the winter, and activated vitamin D, 1,25(OH)2D, a steroid hormone, has profound effects on human immunity. 1,25(OH)2D acts as an immune system modulator, preventing excessive expression of inflammatory cytokines and increasing the ‘oxidative burst’ potential of macrophages. Perhaps most importantly, it dramatically stimulates the expression of potent anti-microbial peptides, which exist in neutrophils, monocytes, natural killer cells, and in epithelial cells lining the respiratory tract where they play a major role in protecting the lung from infection"

Probably goes some way to explain why we're so much more susceptible in winter months to respiratory tract infections and it's a no risk piece of advice for old people and people at risk from those infections, get more sunlight, and or sun lamp treatment.

It would be interesting to do a study on people who use tanning beds through winter to see how many of them get bad respiratory tract infections from winter infections of flu ect.

It's because of its source.

Twitter is a festering boil of misinformation and abuse, any actual good stuff gets lost amongst it.

I won't click on it, it's not an issue.

This is, however, just now politics 2

<ok>

*for some of you*

I hear what you are saying Chief, but at the moment everyone is at home, totally bored out their brains, so you have to give the guise some leeway. Said with respect to you, but I think you're just being a bit more grouchy than usual <run> :bandit:

@Jenny10 Hi Swords, I'm feeling generous in the current situation, with everyone stuck at home, you can post in this section, you're banned from the QPR board though.

Some rules only apply to you <whistle> [HASHTAG]#Dictatorship[/HASHTAG]

I don;t suffer from TDS though, to read screeching on here like "Trump is going to destroy America" without irony is surreal m8 <laugh> Orange man bad has gotten really boring.

Anyone want to play a stock market game? Normally steady shares are fluctuating massively at the minute as companies issue profit warnings, pull dividends, lay off staff etc. I think it's going to continue to be a bumpy ride over the next couple of weeks.

So, to fill a few minutes, we could all build a virtual share portfolio and then see how much money we've "made" or lost" at a pre-defined cut off point. If anyone is up for it I'll draft some rules.

It's no different to gambling on the horses. In this case it's the broker instead of the bookie who always wins.
