Some banks are being massive pricks by expecting personal guarantees for the government backed business loans. Absolute ****s.

RBS and NatWest don’t appear to be doing this but Barclays and HSBC are.

The article from Health England that they base their report on is quite correct. In January this year Health England had classified Coronavirus as an HCID (High Consequence Infectious Disease). The definition of that is (according to the Health England website):
  • acute infectious disease
  • typically has a high case-fatality rate
  • may not have effective prophylaxis or treatment
  • often difficult to recognise and detect rapidly
  • ability to spread in the community and within healthcare settings
  • requires an enhanced individual, population and system response to ensure it is managed effectively, efficiently and safely
Diseases which fall in this category include Ebola, Lassa Fever and some other particularly nasty diseases which have high fatality rates.

I presume they downgraded Coronavirus because it doesn't have a similar high case fatality rate. However they do comment that they didn't need to issue additional guidelines for management as they felt that that the Government Response was appropriate.

This group, a few other "non-mainstream" media and presumably HIAG, are trying to make out that, now it doesn't fall in that HCID category, the government response is over the top and part of a cunning plan to curtail our personal freedom, and that's why they haven't made a big song and dance about the downgrade.

Oh look here he is again lauding the idea that we should treat pandemics in the same way the Black Death was in the Middle Ages.

****ing idiot.

He's conflating how we as a species build immunity with managing a civilization during pandemics which should be discussed exclusively, because of our obvious limitations with dealing with so many who need hospitalisation.

The black death came on the back of serious crop failures and drought as temperatures declined, disease rampaged throughout Europe.

Thing is, the black death came to Italy on Ships. Had they had the knowledge and info back then, they'd not have let the ships dock. If they knew about infectious diseases like we do now in terms of spread prevention through contact, its likely there would have been 10s of millions less deaths from that pandemic, maybe even 100 million less deaths

So bringing up the plague only weakens his argument <ok>

This is why I posted it, I had a feeling there would be another point of view to consider.

The Govt is guaranteeing the loans, so if they’re asking for personal security they need to be ringing No.10 the stupid ****s.

As usual the ****ing banks are offering little or nothing to the populous. The same populous who bailed them out in 2008 after their unrelenting greed saw them end up in the ****e.

The Govt should have made interest rates 0% and told the ****ers that anyone who wanted it, could pause their mortgage, loan or card payments until the crisis was over. With no additional interest being allowed to be charged by the banks during that period. Make the ****s give something back.

If they’d have done that, the need for the Govt to support wages would have been less btw.

I can’t see much of an angle for any would-be party donors in that scenario unfortunately.

The Black death also sort of flaws the idea that we can control pandemics via herd immunity alone.

As those fortunate enough to survive the Black Death did indeed have immunity, however, that gained them the privilege of being alive to watch their kids and grandkids die from it, when it returned a generation later.

So we can assume that HIAG is also an anti vaxxer btw. All anti vaxxers are ****s by definition.

No one who is, or has a relative struggling for breath atm is talking about herd immunity. <ok>

That's a fascistic stance, but unfortunately the one that the masses are being manipulated into adopting.

No it isn’t at all. Anti vaxxers who inflict their twisted beliefs on their offspring by refusing them to be vaccinated, are not only literally putting their own children at risk, but if they exist in decent numbers, they’re allowing previously well controlled diseases to appear again in clusters.

So well done you, for knowing better, you narcissistic moron.

Unusually high levels of activity in the Channel and North Sea, as the Royal Navy are shadowing SEVEN Russian warships WTF...Come on world work together, we aint got time to play war games!

What a ****, on one side you have the entire credible scientific community with large amounts of extensive research, on the other you have a disgraced former Doctor who was found to falsify evidence and was working alongside people looking to sue pharmaceuticals and .... Jenny McCarthy... You really have to be a special kinda **** to be an anti vaxxer

Ouch

"Several million Americans have already been laid off or furloughed because of the coronavirus crisis — and millions more may lose their jobs in the weeks ahead.

The number of people who applied in mid-March for unemployment benefits, known as jobless claims, is forecast to zoom to a record 2.5 million from 281,000 in the prior week, according to economists polled by MarketWatch. The period covers March 15 to March 21 and will be published by the U.S. Labor Department on Thursday."

Anti vax phenomenon is rooted in fear (and fear from ignorance) more than anything else.

Fear augmented by youtube's algorithms for years. If you get suggested one anti vax video out of 1000 suggestions, and you click on it and watch it, youtube will pump more of that content to your account based on account or cookies if not logged in. They seem to be working on that these days, youtube is a trainwreck these days, though the odd channel like Forgotten Weapons is fantastic.

Watching any content has some effect on you, every news story, every article you read, it puts something into the mix be it emotional, informational or ideological depending the person and the content, effects vary obviously. Some people literally go down a rabbit hole, PRIMARILY because it's consumable content, there is no discussion, no questions, youtube pumps this doom porn to your head. It's like TV in the 80s and 90s all over again, just other types of content, same brainwashing, and as before, self imposed.

There is something also to be said for doom porn. It's something that is a fairly common addiction these days. I personally feel its the theme park ghost train of the 21st century.
We're so immune to scary entertainment now, horror movies rarely if ever actually scare anyone any more. People seem to get their horror and drama fix from real life now and probably also, so many are so bored with their lot that doom porn activates their almonds.

Yep. Once you head down that rabbit hole you’ll be served similar ****e which will increase the ‘belief’. Social media also allows these people to then create an echo chamber where they continue reinforcing their misguided beliefs or bigotries.
