No mate, it’s really you who’s missing the point here. Poorly patients who might have limited time left but would be finished off by coronavirus, still makes coronavirus the cause of death.

I thought from memory there is a part 1 and 2 on the death certificate. For example my old fella died from respiratory failure with part 2 being the underlying Crohn's disease?

Yes, there’s the direct cause of death and then any underlying issues that may have contributed to it.

I bet that's not what it will say on the death certificate :bandit: (don't say it, I know...)

What about head on collision in an RTA <whistle>

That isn't always the case with cancer patients who catch a virus when they're too weak to fight it off though. At least not in terms of a death certificate.

Edit - should have read ahead.

You could be right but that's certainly not what happened with my misses.

    That’s an assumption.

The virus could present them with mild and manageable symptoms, but they continue to shovel fatty, salty food down their neck in 12 weeks of isolation, which would ultimately be their undoing. The virus hasn’t affected this person’s fate, other than an assumption than he may have had one salad if he could get out to Pizza Hut.

I’d imagine you’d be OK then, and even if one leg was cancelled I’d imagine they’d allow you to reschedule at the very least.

    Been before btw?

You're right, even if it's the treatment that causes the death, the cause is still the cancer.

Yeah agree love the Indian Ocean. I’ve been a couple of times to Mauritius, I noticed a big difference between my first and second visit in terms of change to the island and commercialisation. I first went 28 years ago and went back about 8 years ago iirc. The UAE hub has made that part of the world far more accessible, it used to be a 13 hr direct flight from Heathrow.

Sorry I didn't mean to say I doubt that, if that's how it came across . Just I think it's different for different circumstances. The consultant told us beforehand what they would have to write on there. Great convo that was. Then afterwards, the coroner wanted to carry out a post-mortem before issuing the official cause, at which point I flipped at the consultant who then had to contact the coroner. Anyway I digress, it's all bollox and red tape.

Sorry I was questioning your own experiences, I just remember a similar type conversation with a consultant who said that Crohn’s disease wouldn’t kill the old man, but as the underlying condition, it would have a major impact.

That impact almost certainly being his weakened immunity caused by the Crohn’s. I suffer from something similar myself at the minute.

I went 7 years ago so probably well into the commercialised period that. Stayed on the south side of the island. Water was warm and lush. Scuba diving and kayaking was immense. The food and culture when you head up inland to the towns was great. We were lucky as fck as well because without realising it we were in the monsoon season but escaped it completely.
