Would anyone actually take any notice of another lock-down, considering the current consequences of the previous one, on the NHS and Mental Health facilities. I'd previously thought about the harm it does, and two things i'd concluded was that humans live for two things, freedom and hope - you put a monkey in a confined lab cage, as we use to 'for science' it eventually goes crazy. Humans are no different, another lockdown would destroy any hope for their future lives and extinguish their freedom, like that monkey in cage.

I make you right on that. Nobody has got any appetite for another lockdown and I don't think people would stick to it at all

It's a cheap pledge from Truss as she already knows this.

Not to mention its impact on inflation that everyone loves talking about now.

While half the country were begging for further lockdowns and loving life sat on furlough with time off and mortgage holidays etc it was quite obvious to the rest of us that it was all going to have to be paid back eventually.

Thankfully there wasn't another last December as many on here wanted!

People didn’t fully follow the lockdown rules, if they had, death/infection rates in my personal opinion would have never reached the levels they did. But to state you wouldn’t have another lockdown as Truss has.

sure it won’t come to another lockdown, but fear for the NHS this autumn/winter.

as per the state of mental health that BRB mentioned. As a society we have never been so well connected, instantly being able to talk/see family and friends and share opinions on website. The decline of mental health started with the internet/accelerated by personal mobiles etc. without a doubt mental health services in the NHS are underfunded.

I take myself off up on the moors around here and camp out for the night in my bivvy bag. Just me and the stars and the sound of the ocean in the background. Puts you right in touch with your place in the universe seeing the glory of the cosmos all laid out before your eyes.

Not enough people get to experience that imo. Because they are too busy slumped on the sofa in front of the glowy box. Or they simply live in areas where you can barely see the night sky due to so many street lights, security lights, shops and malls lit up, car parks illuminated and on and on it goes.
Sounds exquisite mate .

Well, no profit to be made if Xmas shopping isn’t going ahead.

Bang on .
I got an extension to send in a tax return June 24th .
I posted it on April 29th then first week in July I got a £100 fine for late filing of return so rang them up and they said appeal by letter .
My appeal got rejected this week and I have to pay the fine by next week .
They will not believe that I sent it and they have almost certainly misplaced it .
I was on the phone for one and half hours earlier explaining this but they said your appeal rejected .
You are litterally just a nobody down at the bottom and like you say I am litterally dumbfounded why the working man votes for elitism .
They will pay the price in years to come when these C.U.N.T.S DESTROY workers and people's rights .
I have so much hate for this lot it's scary

I had a similar things years ago. I’m PAYE, but due to some cockup with my company car tax, I started to get the annual tax return form to fill in. One year I received the form in the post after the end of January tax return deadline, but I quickly filled it in and returned it within 48hrs. A while later I got the £100 fine for late submission. I rang them to complain and told her I hadn’t received it in time, which she acknowledged, and then told her I returned in 48hrs, which again acknowledged! This cut absolutely no ice with her and her reply to me was, I should count myself lucky they weren’t charging interest on the £100!! When I asked about an appeal, I was told that it would have to be the Secretary of State and basically good luck with that one!
