BBC suspending all filming of their TV series. A silver lining. No more ****ing Eastenders.
Not great for my mate who is a freelance cameramen for the BBC

He is one of the few non-nonces who works there.

They are guaranteed loans so if they are defaulted the government/bank picks up the tab and they are ultimately paid off by some means, tax hikes, inflation hikes.
If we give that money away, and it still gets defaulted, then there is also a large effect to the economy in that no one is paying it back.
I think the loans/grants/rate breaks is a good way forward in the first instance for what is hopefully a shorter period than first envisaged.
Personally, I'm looking at this half full and will continue to do so unless it's clear we're entering some ****ing armageddon or other.
The glass half empty brigade are doing my head in to be honest.

Just spoke to my mortgage lender (HSBC) about deferring my mortgage payments for 3 months as announced by the Govt
They said that they have had no instruction or direction from Govt regarding this and that if you're struggling to pay to contact the credit team but it will affect your credit rating.

They’ve just got used to saying stuff to try and appease the public. Whether it’s true or not is an irrelevance. They did the same with the supermarkets a couple of weeks ago.Just spoke to my mortgage lender (HSBC) about deferring my mortgage payments for 3 months as announced by the Govt

Doubt you’re the only one. Just give it a couple of days I reckon. You know I’m not a Tory by any stretch but all this **** will take more time than we’d like it to. If it’s not sorted soon I agree.
Ring the credit team and have the same convo. You may have gone through to a call handler in a section that has not been briefed or generally just knows fook all about that skill set.
I'll give it a week and see if the Govt have given some clear direction on this 3 month deferment, then I'll ring the credit team.
HSBC do know about it... https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/news/2020/03/uk-coronavirus-help-and-your-rights/

Yep that's the link I posted earlier, which is why I contacted HSBC today. Conflicting messages it seems.
I'll try again next week![]()
The bank told me that they would have expected some clear direction from Govt, seeing as they made a public announcement about it.
I'll give it a year and see if the Govt have given some clear direction on this 3 month deferment, then I'll ring the credit team.
Sensible move by Tesco to stop trading 24hr stores, and close overnight, to allow employees time to refill shelves. Stores are currently having to split personnel between tills and shelf filling, that will at least alleviate some of the daytime pressures.

That's when I was doing my weekly shop to avoid the crowds!!
It is a sensible idea to stop 24 hour trading though
