Not great for my mate who is a freelance cameramen for the BBC

He is one of the few non-nonces who works there.

I'm expecting we'll recover, how long that takes who know. Instead it's the nature of the way the banks will be bailed out when this is all over but I take on board what you've said.

Just spoke to my mortgage lender (HSBC) about deferring my mortgage payments for 3 months as announced by the Govt

They said that they have had no instruction or direction from Govt regarding this and that if you're struggling to pay to contact the credit team but it will affect your credit rating.

Doubt you’re the only one. Just give it a couple of days I reckon. You know I’m not a Tory by any stretch but all this **** will take more time than we’d like it to. If it’s not sorted soon I agree.

Mortgage payment holidays have been around for years with many banks. I'm surprised HSBC don't do them.

Btw the response from them seems a bit fcking cold.

They’ve just got used to saying stuff to try and appease the public. Whether it’s true or not is an irrelevance. They did the same with the supermarkets a couple of weeks ago.

Companies need to remember that this will not last forever. However long it takes, eventually society will come out the other side. People will remember which companies looked for short term gains and which ones applied understanding and helpful customer service. The ones who get it wrong could find themselves with very few customers in the long run.

It's the same as the venitalor mess

The Tories put out a tweet/press conference announcing what they would like to happen, then they sit back and wait for manufacturers/banks to contact them with information about how to do it

Ring the credit team and have the same convo. You may have gone through to a call handler in a section that has not been briefed or generally just knows fook all about that skill set.

The bank told me that they would have expected some clear direction from Govt, seeing as they made a public announcement about it.

I'll give it a week and see if the Govt have given some clear direction on this 3 month deferment, then I'll ring the credit team.

Anyone have a clue how this effects claiming money back for holidays?

Mate of mine is meant to be flying to Malta end of this month, the flight hasn't been cancelled but there is a 14 day quarantine upon arrival (he is only there for a week so obviously isn't going to bother going). Has he got a leg to stand on with the insurance company as technically the flight/holiday isn't cancelled?

Sensible move by Tesco to stop trading 24hr stores, and close overnight, to allow employees time to refill shelves. Stores are currently having to split personnel between tills and shelf filling, that will at least alleviate some of the daytime pressures.

    <grr>

That's when I was doing my weekly shop to avoid the crowds!!

It is a sensible idea to stop 24 hour trading though

I went soon after opening today and it was decent. Not too crowded, long-ish queues but not awful. Some poor cow even helped me find the women’s products I’d been ordered to buy and looked like it was her first ever time not shopping in WholeFoods.
