Having probably the most clueless bunch of clowns in government that this country has ever had, certainly isn’t helping.
I’m more inclined to blame the “Go to work, don’t go to work, eat out to help out, don’t go out, be home by half past ten, back to normal by Christmas, 6 months of lockdown, drive to Durham to test your eyesight” messaging, from the government that promised us a World Class test and trace system but delivered another shambles, than pin it all on students not washing their hands.
Be interesting to see what twaddle tomorrow's three tier thing will be.
Truth is, we haven't got a cure, haven't got a vaccine. The idea that we all hide away hoping it'll go away isn't sustainable so I guess we're all just going to have to toe the line to whatever bollocks restrictions they give us.
And we can all doff our caps while we're at it.

People didn't stick to the rules the first time and they think that 6 months down the road people will stick to the new rules. Not going to happen.
The Govt's handling of it has been pretty shambolic. Right from the start in locking down too late, to not ordering ppe, lack of protection in care homes, then a laughable 'world beating' track, trace and isolate system, folk having to drive 300 miles to get a test, opening hospitality back up and then blaming everybody for spreading the virus again. On it goes.
That said, the basic principle of trying to supress the infection rate by locking down parts of society is about the only way you can control it without the other measures in place. I know that pisses people off and it also feeds into the anti-lockdown/vax/5G crowd's narrative. Ironically, though it will probably be a vaccine that eventually releases us from the lockdowns.
We may as well not bother then. It's not going away and if people can't follow some simple instructions we may as well just get out there, get it, and see how it pans out.
It is not surprising that people who do toe the line resent having to do it, when they know that there are so many out there not doing it.
And how strange it is that London is perfectly OK.
Just those pesky pleb northerners, Scots and Welsh have to hide.
The London thing is strange, is it that they are just sticking to the rules? Who knows. I have family there and they are very much doing so and are shocked about the way we are breaking rules here in Wales.
I've stuck to the rules and advice but with so many not bothering it made no difference.

It's certainly odd that there seems to be such a stark difference in its prevalence up north compared to down south. Be interesting to see if that swaps round in 4-6 weeks.
This shutting pubs at 10pm certainly ain't having a positive impact imo. Though I'm sure the late opening off licenses are doing well out of it.

I'm hoping that I have some kind of immunity to it now, although there's no proof it would make a certain sense.
Think the latest I read was you could get it again months down the line but it will be much milder.
People did stick to the rules to begin with imho.
Right wing Tories even complained about people being "too compliant" and "enjoying it".
It all went to **** when the getting back to normal rules were announced without being thought through imo.
Cities outside London tend to have much higher student numbers, as a proportion of the population. London is an expensive place to be a student, so not many people from other parts of the U.K. come here to study, whereas in places like Newcastle and Liverpool, when universities re-opened those places probably saw they populations increase by considerable percentages. Not that I think students are in any way to blame; they’re only doing what they’ve been encouraged to do. But when you get large numbers of young people relocating around the country, it’s fairly obvious what’s going to happen.
I’m kind of working on the assumption that London will be on tighter lockdown soon anyway. Went to Southampton to visit my parents yesterday, I notice the figures down there are very low.
Kids being very well behaved in London even though the government will try to blame them for its own shortcomings

No. Both Johnson and Sunaks constituencies have got higher R rates than the northern areas had when they were given additional restrictions 2 months ago. What have they done in those 2 places? **** all.
Too posh for COVID? Or merely too embarrassing for a politician? Either way it seems that the science isn’t in full control here.
Yeah I know but in the SE, I was merely highlighting a point. The London borough numbers are now rising again though.
Yeah, I doubt London will escape further restrictions for long. Didn’t help that they reduced testing capacity in London a month or so ago, to cope with excess demand elsewhere, so Infection rates could already be higher than they’re showing.
Think Rishi Sunak’s constituency is in York btw?
