Completely agree with the above, and with the BBC article.
The government should be putting money towards supporting those who genuinely need to shield, not star rocket testing or whatever bollocks he called it.
Then everyone else can make up their own minds regarding risk and get on with it. As you might be aware, I was sent a shielding letter. I reviewed it and decided to carry on working, I will do again if I receive another. It's my choice and it should be everyone's choice as to what risk they are prepared to take.
Was going to visit my mother last weekend but didn't go as she is just in an elevated measures area, in Bolton borough. She's not seen my kids through all this and Christmas is now at risk. She's 77 and mildly asthmatic but knows the risks, knows what precautions to take and knows how to manage this. She does not want to hide indoors ad infinitum as this virus is only going to be out there waiting.
We need to deal with it and live with it. Herd immunity is probably the wrong term, but herd resistance is valid. The vast majority or us are not at risk of this thing.
Those that need to shield, do so and be supported. And I don't mean self inflicted gargantuan fat ****s.
