Probably sensible if an unhealthy 66-year-old isolates too. My dad is 59 but I’d consider him as high-risk as most 70-year-olds.

exactly , but if they are still working its because they cant afford not to..

im angered tbh.

most 70 year old are retired and already isolated ..

Ventilators required from any manufacturer, no number is to high, the government will buy them.

Future action plan that over 70's to self isolate for 4 months.

But concerned about my mum and dad. 4 months ffs, virus or no virus there’s no guarantee at their age (89, 86) they’ll live that long anyway.

Still planning to them visit on Wednesday. At that age, old people need visitors, it’s the bright spot of their lives.

Anyone purchased face masks yet?

Been reading into them, different types and having done some basic reading on them it seems that some are useless for what we need whilst others are of some help, possibly, against an airborne virus

Don’t want to draw up a list as if I know what I’m talking about

Yeah, they don’t work mate. Just read the BBC site.

Well yeah there are ramifications beyond just the number of people who will die. This ought to change society forever.

I do have some sympathy with the government and all governments as they need to make decisions quickly with imperfect information and all decisions have negative consequences. I can’t say I trust this lot to make the best decisions on behalf of society as a whole and I think that would still be the case if I was an ardent Tory.

My Nan, 80 this year, is currently in the Canary Islands due to fly back a week tomorrow. Starting to get worried that she might not be able to come back.

Don't bother with a mask.

My mum is over 80 too

She hasn’t left the house for over a week now...I’ve stopped visiting her.
Just phone call catch ups for the foreseeable. She lives with my eldest brother and his family so It’s not too bad but I think wether it’s mass hysteria or not we need to take it seriously because there something new in the air and it don’t like us

Doubt it. 6 months after the virus ends people will be back voting for Tories to cut unnecessary public services so big businesses can be propped up. The unions that have worked to save millions of lives while the government did nothing will again be villified.

Tax-cheat Richard Branson is already demanding £7.5 billion for the profit he's lost on Virgin Atlantic.

You’re correct for once. I did say it ought to but doubt it will. Expect some emergency austerity while the banks are helped through this.

It’s a tough one mate.

Last week I said to my mum, I’m not going to kiss you mum. She put her hand over her mouth and pointed at her cheek. I know her only real fear is of my dad dying first and leaving her alone.

My dad’s biggest fear is of never seeing Saints win another game...fancy dying after losing at home to Newcastle @Roy Munson

Some friends of ours were due to fly back from the Canaries yesterday.

They’re still there.

Getting pissed.

Hope she gets home safe mate.

Cheers mate, sure it will be alright and at least it's not the mainland I suppose.

Yeah I read earlier that loads of flights yesterday were cancelled. She's with her friend who owns a place there anyway so won't be any hassle having to stay a bit longer. Might actually be better for her than being here right now tbh.

I don't see the need to buy one, have no plans to attend any mass gatherings and footie got cancelled on Saturday, even though I had paid for a ticket!

You could still go to Gills home games mate ... even if the mass gatherings directive remains in place <whistle>
