So how are they predicting these numbers, by that I mean proving it, and why has it not been brought up in a briefing yet, unless the media do that today, and if we are comparing like for like, what are their forecasts for other countries?

I'm pretty sure it was brought up in Boris' briefing the other evening when he eased the lockdown rules ? Just after he'd said people can meet for a bbq etc. The medical experts warned that whilst infections rates are steady, they are still at 8000 a day. I think his words were 'this is not a small number'

There are loads of counter arguments to that, these are just opinions of individuals essentially.

One scientist says it's too soon while another says we've been in lockdown too long or shouldn't have even had one.

Bottom line is, do we really think the government would lift it too soon with out sound advice? Really?

I know they've made **** ups and none of you believe a single word they say but I can't really fathom the idea they'd want to have to go through the whole lockdown/hide/furlough process again.

Fair enough, but how does that compare to other countries, I'm sure you see why I'm asking for a comparison, it helps make a fairer judgement to the situation and the rest of Europe.

I think the problem is I keep seeing or hearing conflicting views from the doctors and scientists, I'm not really sure how I'm supposed to make a reasonable judgement when even the doctors and scientists can't agree. I'll just carry-on protecting myself and fook the rest of yer <laugh>

They said themselves that they wouldn’t move to the next stage of reducing lockdown until we reached level 3 of the stages that they themselves set out. Only we’re currently still at level 4 and yet they’ve moved ahead this week with announcing further lockdown restrictions. Funny that. I wonder what might have been their driver? as it certainly wasn’t the science.

I would definitely say that caution is a wise approach. Boris was too slow to lock down and too quick to open up again. The WHO were urging us in Feb to prepare to lock down, yet in March we allowed 250,000 to meet at Cheltenham races. I have zero faith in this Govt to manage this safely and the figures back that up. Worst death rate per million in the whole world.

Not sure ... but given the spikes in South Korea and India on the back of easing in the last week, I am concerned that we are letting politics (the economy) take precedence over medical advice and expertise ... only time will tell ... but what also worries me is that we are still recording the most daily deaths ...

Difficult one for sure. I just wonder how much longer our sanity could have endured the lockdown. At the end of the day, people have to have a purpose to live, if you remove a purpose, then you end up with a bigger problem than you started with.

Good points ... and obviously with a missus on the vulnerable list my views are influenced by self interest ... but if anything should happen to her as a result of a governmental decision that places the economy over lives, I may well be getting locked up for a failed knee to throat disabling technique on a couple of well known public figures ... just saying <ok>

    Yep difficult balance to manage.

seen it with my own mother, on the one hand I want to protect her from the virus, on the other her mental health is suffering from the isolation.

I think we have two extremes going on with this whole lockdown, one of paranoia and another of if you don't release this lockdown soon, I going to do myself a liver with chianti and fava beans.

    If you say so.

Not gonna lie, I'm more comfortable with the lifting of where I live but we're only a couple of weeks behind England.

I've got no issue with how things are going at all.

Reasons for the quarantine and the lifting of the restrictions are beacause at the begining we weren;t prepared for it at all, now we are better prepared and can, hopefully, avoid unnessesary deaths. Is it economy over health? well, take a look at the health of the populations in the poor countries and you'll get your answers

That they're no longer driven by science?

    I'd say that's your opinion.
