Blimey mate.
I haven’t said anything until now but I tested positive 3 weeks ago. I had a negative PCR on the Tuesday and I saw a faint line on my LFT on Thursday. On the Friday it was confirmed. I had to test 3 times a week for work. Luckily, because I wouldn’t have known I had it. All I had on the Saturday was a sniff and clear by Sunday. I had to wait 5 days to get a clear reading. TBH the psychological side of things was the worst part. I kept thinking of all those poor sods in hospital. I am all good now and happy I had to do LFT otherwise I would have been walking around positive.
I won’t get into the politics but I can understand why people think the easing of restrictions might cause a problem.

Yeah, we had a rehearsal last weekend and on the Sunday evening one cast member reported testing positive.
I'd been rehearsing a duet with her on the Saturday and there were around 25 cast and crew together across the weekend.
Gradually more and more of us tested positive, in the end, 16 out of the 25.
Most seem to have had the same as you, but 2 or 3 of us have been a bit worse.
Hate to think what it would have been like without the jabs.

You wont have to do anythjng soon Ellers by the looks of it. Which then opens a can of worms. What if some employers demand lft tests? Will it be against the law to do so etc etc
I found it weird that they told me I can’t now take a PCR as it will still be in my system. <yikes>I don’t talk about work much as I like to keep it quiet and I also have to sign NDA’s but I am working with some big hitters and will now have to do a LFT daily. <doh>
2 years protecting myself and all good… 2 days in London and got COVID. How’s you’re luck?

Always told you how sensitive the PCR was, and so far more useful than the LFT it was Ellers.

I have now tested positive twice, with no symptoms at all....and would have been walking round passing it on for 5-10 days without the tests. I shop for an old lady, I quiz in a pub with a clinically vulnerable person, my hubbie and his family are over 70.
It is really a case now of Boris saying, nobody test nobody isolate, no one collect the figures and no-one will know 150-300-450 people are dying every day for the next few months

So how can Boris announce that all Covid restrictions be lifted on THE SAME DAY that it is announced that over 75 and vulnerable people need a booster in the spring

To my mind this is not sensible

Though the stats, with all cause deaths below the five year average for all of this year so far, ie negative excess deaths, would indicate that Omicron is actually less serious than an average flu year. And we have had virtually no flu this year (or last). I think people with a nasty infectious disease, whatever it is, should isolate and be encouraged to do so, with financial support for those who need it. But time to demystify this virus. We’d be getting booster jabs for flu if they worked.

If another nasty variant comes along, then we need to reassess. Obviously todays announcements are politically motivated, but the great scientists Whitty and Vallance are on telly backing them up.

And the even better scientist Sir Jeremy Farrar of the Welcome Trust left SAGE because of the way the government is handling this...and Jean Claude Van Damme has drifted away too..

Removing the ability to test, telling people they don't need to self isolate, not in any way protecting the clinically vulnerable, and old and infirm is criminal.

Are we ( I mean Boris) counting on a good old fashioned war so we can forget about Covid. Yes I am both upset and irrational.

Have to agree.
Even though I'm still feeling quite **** from Covid, I have thought for a while that the time has come to live with it, like flu.
It would be hypocritical of me not to just because the bastard has finally got to me.

As you say, numbers experts agree that this is the right way to go.

Boris isn't starting a war Beth.

Yes you're being irrational.
The vulnerable etc are always at risk every year from flu. The numbers now say there are less deaths than in a bad flu year.

We can't hide under the duvet for ever.

I am not asking for us to Col.

Wearing masks in enclosed spaces.

Isolation for those who have Covid with symptoms

Support for those who isolate when positive..

The supply of Covid tests so we know...what we have or have not got

We are dealing with a virus that mutates quicker than flu.

We (uk) are going to a 4th round of vaccinations when less than 10% of the world population has been vaccinated against the alpha variant.

I was "joking" about the war..it was not funny, it was a knee jerk reaction to what I was hearing. I apologise for that..

But ffs Boris, what is to harm in asking people to wear masks , to isolate until negative if they have covid, to be able to test.

sorry Beth but criminal and counting on a war? Really are silly comments.
.

I have apologised for the war comment..
..but I will not apologise for criminal comment.
Boris's government allowed/encouraged infected people to go back into care homes at the start of the pandemic..causing many deaths of very vulnerable people.

He is doing the same again. He/ his government has not learnt. I repeat it is criminal

You are going over old ground and it’s wrong.
Sadly Boris can’t win. He is damned if he does one thing or another. Same old voices… and I’m not saying just on here.

And Macron and the EU are estimated to have cost tens of thousands of lives too when they wrongly rubbished Astra Zenica.

Are you as upset with them?

When would you stop restrictions Beth?
How many lives have been ruined due to the restrictions?
How many will die as a direct result of the restrictions and not getting diagnosed early enough?
If Boris had shut down earlier, how many more lives would have been ruined? How many more missed diagnosis of cancer etc?

People need to take responsibility and be considerate of others if they think they have covid/flu etc.
The state can't run our lives forever, as much as you'd like it to.

Enough!!

Beth what are we to do? continue to have us all locked down for life? Shall we all live in Michael Jackson bubbles? You will be the first to complain when the economy sinks and people can’t get important operations.
We need to live with it.

<applause> Spot on Col… the amount of kids I work with that have missed out on school. Lost all confidence and are having other problems.

Why are you, Ellers and Col, so against wearing a mask in confined spaces ( eg on the tube/ bus)...and testing to see if you have Covid...and isolating or just staying away from vulnerable people, if you have it ( and not if you haven't).
And only until we are clear of winter weather and into Spring when we can open windows and go out into fresh air

I am sorry but none of those things will affect our national mental health, impinge on our ability to use the NHS, or affect our personal rights.

I think you are being irrational to be honest
