Have just tested positive for covid.
Have felt rough since the weekend. Headache, aches, occasional cough and a really sore throat.
Seems someone at our show rehearsal at the weekend had it and now over half of the 26 cast have tested positive.
I had already ordered a PCR test. Anyone know if I should still bother to take it when it comes?

Personally I would not bother with the PCR test, all that will happen is that the test and trace people will hassle you for the names of everyone you have seen recently. I’m sure you will have told all those you know anyway, and will be isolating.
They've obviously got all my details as I had to fill in multiple forms to be sent the test.
Will they not wonder why I didn't take it?
Oh, hang on, I suppose it just goes to a lab somewhere who won't know who is sending them till they receive them?
Do it for your own comfort Col...and when it comes it will also be wasted if you don't use it.... but currently you can just do laterals...
Last time I had it ( 3 weeks ago) I just used the lft. Which were positive for the first 4 days and then negative there after ( but again I had no symptoms). So I was released at 6 days
Officially you are isolated for 10 days unless you have 2 negative lft ...24 hours apart on days 5 and day 6
I do hope you get away with low level symptoms Col. The strong covid, is definitely nasty.. Fingers crossed for you. Take it easy. Much xx to you

Wow you are crediting them with joined up thinking..which they don't have.
You can always say you didn't think it was necessary..as you were lft positive and isolating.
More serious...it does allow the scientists to determine what strain is now doing the rounds...but as we are no longer interested in the science...not sure who is collecting that data either
I’m pretty sure that level of efficiency isn’t baked into the system…..I think the tracking/tracing element will only kick in once you send a positive test back to them. If you know you are positive, and it sounds nailed on given what has happened with the rest of the cast, not sure what the point is except for being one of the number read out on the news, which is not as accurate as the weekly ONS figures anyway…..
like Beth I’m not sure what, if anything, they do with the test results now….
