Education Secretary Nadhim Zahawi dismissed a report in the Sunday Times, saying he did "not recognise" the story that the tests could be limited to care homes, hospitals and schools, and people with symptoms.

"This is absolutely not where were are at," he told Trevor Phillips on Sunday.

Asked if there were any plans to stop free lateral flow tests, Mr Zahawi said "absolutely not".

Now you just know that when someone from government comes out and says such a thing, then the opposite will happen, especially when they use the words 'dont recognise'.

If the ****ing system worked I’d have no problem with this, but it has never worked and with the numbers we are seeing now even the best designed and operated system would collapse. Time to reassess self testing and isolation. Any luck numbers will start going down soon.

Same us as when we had it. It was completely pointless, and I am afraid I told them so.
Also hubbie and I officially got it at same time, I uploaded the data...but his get out of jail card was 2 days before mine.
Which I trued to query with the trace and track people..."nothing we can do mate".
We can't do anything was the reply...so I asked what can you do " not much".
So why you phoning me every single day " because I am paid to".
I thanked him for his honesty

Im pretty sure it was only a few weeks ago that we were being told that lateral flow tests were essential for us to learn to live with covid. Now im going to hazard a guess, when (not if) we are made to pay for them, realisticly who is going to bother and who is going to make money from it? Hmmm my guess, a Tory peer.

We will soon get to a stage when we are declaring only a few cases a day....simply because no one is testing...(not enough tests, don't want to know, costs too much)

And the deaths will not be reported either ( as deaths per day were never reported before covid to be honest ).

Some people will say this us just getting on with life...others sweeping under the carpet.
I am unsure what I think currently.

I think my mind will be determined by the effect it has on the NHS and we will see that in next 2 months

At the moment the version of the LFTs I have been getting for nothing costs £2.25 on line. Per test. I’m not sure about the availability, you would hope there is none because the government has bought them all……When free tests are no longer available (well, officially no longer available, they are not actually available now) of course the price will go up. And no one, including me, will use them. If I’m feeling fine I will go out and see my mates. If I’m feeling crook I will stay at home. If I’m feeling really ill I will attempt to get some advice from the NHS. Not just for COVID, for any illness.

This is, and always has been, about the impact on the NHS. If you look at the overall impact on care for all conditions, waiting lists and waiting times, access to services etc it could be argued that the NHS has already collapsed, but because there aren’t corpses piling up on the streets in PR terms the government is getting away with it. If/when covid admissions go down and staff absences become manageable that’s it, pandemic officially over - regardless of covid related deaths (sneaking up again) as long as they don’t take up capacity. Vaccinations for the vulnerable only.

And this might be the only way forward, to break this headlock that the virus and the NHS has on the rest of society.

In your eyes Bob it will always be a Tory peer. Plenty of other non Tory peers and business have also made money.

Spot on mate I have not done a LFT for some time now ( been home 99% of time) if I feel I’ll, like previously I will stay at home until I’m better. Saying that, I may have an interview in London next week and they will insist I take one.

If its a necessity like above then i suppose you have to.
 
I had to take a LFT before I could attend my Son's graduation last year (delayed due to covid).
It was negative.
I had to email the result and a reference number to the specified address online.
They sent me an email and text confirming that I was negative. It also showed on my NHS App.
I could easily have simply got the details from the test kit, sent off my 'negative' result and not bothered actually testing.
How many people would have done the same, or said they were negative even if it was positive?
Waste of time.

Apparently, according to the Sunday Times today, only 14% of the LFTs taken have their results reported via ‘official’ channels. I did the first LFT I took, and just couldn’t see the point after that.
