Anybody care to hazard a guess at how many new and potentially dangerous variants there’ll be between now and Xmas next year, and how many additional jabs over and above the current booster will be recommended?

I’m going for 3 variants, 2 more jabs and the NHS being in crisis 43 times.

The theory is... the unvaccinated person will get a worse disease, will be ill-er and at more risk of hospitalisation and death.

Also...and more pertinent to your question, unvaccinated people will have a higher viral lode and will be infectious for longer ....the antibodies and lymphocytes in your system will dampen down the viral infection. The unvaccinated person can spread virus further and for longer

The last thing is...do you remember that at the start we were talking about a "secondary " problem called cytokine storm, when the immune over reacted about 1- 2 weeks after the infection. This is not happening so much, and very rarely in vaccinated people...as their immune system has already been primed...and doesn't get into that hyperexcitable state.
There’s no way on this earth I could answer better than this. I am not worthy :emoticon-0137-clapp

Boris Johnson needs to be dragged out of Parliament and hung in Parliament Square ...

'' And as we focus on boosters, and make this new target achievable it will mean some other appointments will need to be postponed until to the New Year. But if we don't do this now the wave of Omicron could be so big, but cancellations and disruptions, like the loss of cancer appointments could be even greater next year.'' Pure evil.

This seems like a desperate move to me, he's drowning and trying to sound like a leader when he is clearly not. He is getting very sinister.

No lateral flow tests available and no send out/home PCR tests either.

Excellent logistical management by PM and his team after saying we should stay at home and test regularly

? I ordered some lateral flow tests on Saturday and they are being delivered today.

However the guidance on who can get a booster today is very contradictory. Over 18s -30 can, allegedly, book on Wednesday but can go to a walk in centre from today. But elsewhere on the website it says that over 18s need a letter from their doctor to get jabbed. And nowhere is there a way to find which walk in centres have available jabs and are accepting walk ins…..I’m all set to take my two this evening (nearest ‘walk in’ centre is 7 miles away, the leafy towns of Warwickshire don’t seem to get this service) the earlier the better especially as my 82 year old Mum will be here for Christmas. Expecting a wasted trip this evening, as the pharmacy involved isn’t answering the phone……

Lucky you Stan. The 81 year old lady I shop for, has been trying for a week now. No lateral flows available locally. I have applied by post for her....nothing yet.
Only 4 days though...

Looks like I got in under the wire ‘no kits available for order’ via the NHS website. Of course, if I was to follow the government guidelines the 11 kits we have between the four of us would last at most 3 days.

In better news got through to the pharmacy and a lovely lady said they are jabbing walk in twenty somethings as long as their second jab was at least 91 days ago.
