18 hours for my NHS test results (in Scotland)

55 hours for the private healthcare results (in England)

Seems very much luck of the draw. My test took about 20 hours to come back negative but that was before our world-beating system failed to foresee an increase in demand when schools and uni started up again.

Now I am really really confused.
You know I got that alert last week telling me who I had been in contact with....it hasn't happened since

It didn't tell me anything about why I got it or that any of them were positive.

Well it appears you only get an alert when you are in contact with someone who is positive..

But it didn't tell me to do anything, or tell me to get a test ...and it disappeared

Has anyone else got the app
Anyone else got this sort of update.

Anyone know anything.
Sounds like a world beating system.

If you were isolating, as I think you should have been according to the rules (no comment from me) the 4 days would be a very long time, especially if you can’t work from home and don’t have a family/friends network to shop for you. The turn around on these things really should be 24 hours, and there are antigen tests out there which are much quicker.

In the absence of a vaccine regular testing of huge numbers of people is the key to keeping things open.

Hope you are feeling better re the chest infection.

I suppose I had very low expectations, so was relatively pleased with the speed of the process, but yes, it needs to be quicker. If I'd really thought I had the virus, I might have tried to get an appointment at a testing centre rather than a home test.

Half way through my course of antibiotics now, but still feeling pretty rough. Very up and down, but need to get well for our teetotal trip to Inverness next week for our 40th anniversary.

Now testing the system in Newcastle, as one of the girls that my daughter shares a house with tested positive, and the rest of them are off for a drive through test later. Apparently the girl was tested yesterday afternoon and got results this morning, which is the speed it should be. None of them have symptoms (the girl who got tested is, according to my daughter, a hypochondriac who heard that one of her friends from home had it). As long as none of them get really sick or develop the long version timing couldn’t be better, they are in a big house with friends rather than a little room in halls of residence, and teaching (if it happens face to face at all) doesn’t start until 19 October. Somewhat inevitable I think. And of course even if 7 of the 8 test negative they are in 14 day lockdown.

You take care of yourself Strolls.

The government’s contact-tracing programme failed to reach more than 30 per cent of close contacts of people who tested positive for the coronavirus in England, the latest figures show, in what is the worst week on record since the beginning of Test and Trace.

Some 68.6 per cent of close contacts were reached through the system, once dubbed “world-beating” by prime minister Boris Johnson, in the week ending 30 September, according to data published by the Department for Health and Social Care (DHSC).

Truly shocking but not really surprising! This is one of the main factors, along with poor messaging, pointless restrictions and peoples refusal to stick to laws/rules.
The government are not just losing the coronavirus battle but also losing the North aswell.

As long as you have government apologists like the usual suspects on here, things will never change....they will feel empowered to do what the f*** they want

Pubs and restaurants in THE NORTH or the sort of locked down bits of the north to be closed from Monday, apparently.

Although I don’t have the faintest idea now what is or isn’t the right track to take with this thing and I’m glad I don’t have to make the decisions, I can see that, even for those in work and healthy, frustration and boredom is going to become an issue soon, if it isn’t already. People have had more than enough time by now to take an extensive trip around their inner selves and find nothing of interest there, removing yet more external stimulation could send quite a few round the bend.

What? SPEAK UP.

Now, where was I? Round the bend, that’s it.

Totally right mate...the people are getting angry, not just at those in charge but at each other. Violence is increasing again (not that it ever went away) and it’s happening in places that it really wasn’t an issue before.
Dealt with a stabbing last night in an area that hasn’t had that kind of thing before....getting scary.

923 new cases in NI today and 506 in the Republic.

3 weeks ago Dublin entered level 3 lockdown as we were showing 50-60% of the total cases for the whole of ROI. Of the 506 today, Dublin had 91 which is about 18%. Something like 40% of the entire population lives in Dublin region. Dublin was getting between 150-200 cases per day a week or so ago.

Clear case that imposing restrictions does produce results.

The second wave is definitely here as 1,429 cases in one day for an island of 7m is shocking.

Well, if you want a COVID 19 test urgently get yourself to the Toon. At midday today my daughter and 4 of her mates (including Gordon Banks’ granddaughter) booked themselves a drive through test at .....2.30 this afternoon, and could have had any time they wanted, apparently. Results expected tomorrow lunchtime. Still not a symptom between them.

Genuine question mate but if they have no symptoms why are they getting tested ?

One of the girls they live with has tested positive (no symptoms either, but a friend had it), and they were advised to get tested, if only to reduce isolation from 14 to 10 days for those who have it.
