Has anyone been invited to have a flu jab through their GP practice yet? I understood that everyone over 50 was meant to get one this year, and as colds and flu are being blamed for some of the COVID scares in schools it’s obviously out there, though I heard it’s a very mild year for flu in Oz/NZ (possibly due to social distancing). Bit daft to hang around on this though.

Me and the missus had ours on Tuesday, my local Chemist told me a couple of weeks ago they were doing them so took advantage...

When I went to pick up my blood pressure tablets from the pharmacy, they asked me if I'd had my flu jab. When I said, 'No I was going to ask my GP', she asked if I would like them to do it. I had it done there and then.

Still waiting for my bowel cancer screening, though. Four months and counting.

Heard nothing yet.
I'd come to the conclusion that it would make sense for me and Mrs Rangercol to have it.

Booked a restaurant for for this evening earlier today and they asked me to download the NHS app before arriving so that they could check us in.

I paid for myself to have a pneumonia jab back in February. I’ve had pneumonia before and don’t want it again. Boots were fine. I’d like the flu jab, but our GP practice seems to have collapsed totally, really don’t like seeing patients in any context, and we’ve heard nothing from them.
 
I will get a flu jab this year for the first time. This is partly due to the fact that there are too many within my bubble that have underlying health issues and I want to do what I can to protect them.

Yeah, our doctor's surgery is a no-go area too.
We figured that if we could rule out seasonal flu, we wouldn't confuse it with you know what.
Also, the other half is a key worker and doesn't want to be off work if at all possible.
Does it make sense, do you think?

Absolutely, and you should be part of the NHS programme. It also makes sense for the NHS to get as many people vaccinated as possible to reduce potential admissions. I suspect that there might be a priority order though and those of us below 60 (by months in my case) might be bottom of the list. I’ll chase it up on Monday.

Just looked it up. Apparently if aged 50-64 we are meant to wait to be told if we qualify for an NHS jab. Only those with underlying health conditions or frontline health and social care staff get the jab if aged under 65.

Now I am worried about dementia as I distinctly remember the announcement being about the flu vaccine for all over 50s. Perhaps I’m losing it. I think I do qualify for an underlying health condition, but it’s only classified as that because of the lack of a real code, and I’d feel a fraud to use it. I’ll probably pay at Boots or wherever.

I thought I'd heard it was everyone over 50 too.
Mrs Rangercol will have to look into it as she's in childcare.

It's odd that the pneumonia vaccination isn't more widely offered, or even publicised. I didn't know there even was one until my GP offered it.
 
So GPs are supposed to contact all over 65 for flu jab, they haven't me. So have arranged my own through pharmacy.

But GPs and pharmacy in village is now completely booked. Under 60 have to wait until November...but I've heard it won't be a bad year...as many susceptible people have already sadly succumbed to Covid.

I just don't want to be ill
