- There have been just three new cases of the coronavirus in the past 16 days. There are now no people in hospital with the virus in New Zealand after the last person was discharged.
- The death toll remains unchanged at 21.
- A $37 million Covid-19 vaccine strategy announced by the government aims to help national and global efforts to create and distribute a vaccine to fight the coronavirus.
- Level 2 restrictions are being reviewed every two weeks, and the alert level will again be looked at by 22 June.

12,335 more people than the five year average have died at home this year, and there have been 8,788 fewer non covid deaths than would be expected in hospital. Presumably the difference between these two numbers is the people who would have survived if they went to hospital for treatment. So well done everyone for protecting the NHS, another win for Boris and Dom.
Really dismayed by the pictures from English beaches this weekend, think Ellers also posted on this although more as a distraction from Cumbucket. You expect people to take some responsibility themselves but the government allowing "exercise" on beaches coupled with the astonishingly good weather appears to be setting us up for another covid **** storm. That said the sheer pig headed stupidity of these ****ers crowding the beaches is depressing. This coming hot on the heels of the ridiculous VE Day scenes, also virtually encouraged by the government.
Apparently Weston Super Mare hospital closed its doors to new patients yesterday as it had been hit by an influx of new COVID cases, and something similar happened in a Scottish hospital. This is far from over. No wonder the Greeks are welcoming tourists from around Europe but not the UK because of our infection rate.
In addition to the idiocy of those flocking to the coast and beauty spots in terms of coronavirus, the pictures make it look like a deeply unpleasant experience regardless of the health consequences.
People seem to think it's all over, my next door neighbours had another BBQ on Monday, at least 20 people there, they do it every bank holiday. Other neighbours doing it through the last few weeks. Funny thing is you can smell weed as much as cooking...

I agree, the people on the beach are idiots - however, do you think the morons on the beach are more or less likely to repeat the trip given the circumstances of Dominatrix Cumbuckets dalliance around the County Durham area?
I have no doubt in my mind that there will be a surge in cases in the coming weeks (as has already been seen in some areas) and we will be heading for Lockdown pt II - second question Ellers, do you think people will abide by the rules of a second lockdown or play the "Dom get out of jail free" card?
People have explicitly been given permission to sunbathe. I’m fortunate to have some outdoor space and work to do but if I had **** all to do all day and lived in a small flat I’d be straight down the park and absolutely ready to play my Dom-inspired get out of jail free if challenged, which shouldn’t happen anyway.
I actually think the idiots on the beach are worse than big bad Dom. He never mingled with anyone whereas the beach bods are acting like a Petri dish. I also think Skye got infected because idiots driving from London then breaking the lockdown rule?
As for the 2nd lockdown... no proof it will happen but if it did then you will get the same mob who ignored it the first time.

Although the Cummings debacle does seemingly give people free reign (in their minds at least) to do whatever they want I think those folk at the beaches were headed there regardless. Cummings certainly hasn't helped but he hasn't turned anyone into a selfish asshole who wasn't already a selfish asshole.
