In the last few days it was leaked that the Government would be easing lockdown restrictions. This seemed to have been greeted by hysteria from the public on social media and also the press. It now seems that this will probably not happen.
The public have also been continually bemoaning the fact that we are still allowing foreign nationals to arrive at ports of entry unchecked. The government is now announcing that at some point in the future a 14 day quarantine rule will be enforced for everyone arriving in the UK.

My question to all you learned people on here is. Who is actually deciding UK policy on dealing with this pandemic.
a) the government
b) public opinion
c) the media
 
It’s good that some on the Left like Stroller can actually first read articles by people like Hitchens, rather than go “urgh! Daily Mail. By default he’ll be saying all the things I disagree with”.

It’s a populist government. Drip-feed an option through your chosen media and see if it’s popular. If you choose not to go through with it, the media article was nothing to do with you.

My understanding is quite simple. Dont let the economy collapse. Allow everyone under 45 who is healthy go out to work.

I come back to my point that you conveniently ignored in that you cannot trust a large swathe of our population to follow the rules. Many feel somewhat affronted at being told what to do!

This is an interesting point. I, like many I suppose read news from opposing sides daily. In my case the Guardian and Mail online amongst others.
I find both have articles I agree/disagree with, however I personally like to read many opinions.
Still many topics, including Corona are as clear as mud however you read!

As a QPR fan I have a real problem with the mail. I think their sportsroom must be chock full of Chelsea fans. The biased writing I read regarding us for many years is more than a tad annoying and suspicious.

Now we are quarantining inbound passengers!!! Has the science suddenly changed yet again?!?!? What a load of ****e these lot are.
