I think this practice of shorting or selling the market should be outlawed.
Unfortunately mate that’s the way Capitalism works. Thatcher ingrained a ‘help yourself’ culture that persists today.
I’ve knocked on a few elderly people’s doors in our road to leave my number and to offer help if they really need it. Most have had families and don’t need anything but all are genuinely surprised that anyone bothered......and that’s the sad thing for me....shouldn’t we all be doing that sort of thing and be ‘normal’ ?

This situation has made me hate our society even more than I did before.
Why not give capitalism a little test? For all those big companies, like Virgin and BA, begging for government, ie taxpayer, money, just say - not until your shareholders have stumped up. You know, the people who have been happy to take the dividends and share price rises without actually contributing anything back over the years, the people who you have prioritised over paying your staff decently, saving for their pensions or building up some cash reserves.

It’s just a shame that the biggest shareholders are the pension funds. Capitalism has us in a head lock.

Good for the supermarkets, even though they are profiteering running dog capitalist scum, or at least some of them, for imposing some kind of order on shoppers by limiting purchase of certain items and prioritising the elderly. Seems like a response to reality without waiting to be told to do something. I hope they get some police presence to help enforce these rules.

If I could I’d like this 100 times

If I heard correctly, Johnson said at PMQs that there will be a test available quite soon to see if you have had the virus and recovered. There must be many thousands that are in this category, and this could be a massive step forward.

Here's some good news, the 2020 Eurovision Song Contest has been cancelled, About bloody time!!!!!

Edit, just seen Sooper's post above confirming this.

If I understood the Chief Scientific Officer at the Health Committee yesterday correctly, they expect a ratio of 1 death per 1000 infections. So with yesterday’s total of 71 deaths there are around 71,000 infected people in the country (some of whom will have recovered, some of whom will have had no symptoms).

So, to keep the death toll at 20,000 (which he said was a tragic but ‘good’ result) we need to restrict the total number infected to 20 million. Clearly we have ages to go on this and we need to spread the infections out over a long period of time to prevent the NHS from being overwhelmed (it will be overwhelmed very quickly though, sadly).

These tests could be crucial in allowing people (self certified?) to get back to normal lives, and help those in isolation or social distancing (assuming the chances of catching it a second time or being contagious are low to zero). Hopefully good news. Sadly I can’t find any reference to it online.

This might not be a joke, retailers are worried this could be possible when supplies run seriously short...

Who benefits from stirring up **** like this? ****ing scaremongering for political points scoring.

I’d be more inclined to take it seriously if it wasn’t a propaganda account designed to criticise anything that Khan (who clearly deserves criticism) is involved in rather than disseminate any accurate information. Just like the Breitbart front Guido Fawkes stuff and the ex Marxist now libertarian dickheads on Spiked.
