My other half had her jab yesterday, she's only 40 and works in HR for the Priory Group. But because she does HR for their schools she counts as working in social care. Obviously you aren't going to turn the jab down when offered but its a bit weird she's had it before my 66 year old mum and her 68 year old mum.

Anyway a positive-ish thread below on how the rates are going. It does exacerbate my fears we are already talking about easing things when rates are still so high compared to last April. I'm convinced the Gov. are going to get this wrong again, but I desperately hope they don't.

There's a huge amount of confusion surrounding nursery workers getting vaccinated.
In this first phase, it is only nursery workers who look after vulnerable kids who are scheduled to be jabbed. However, there are reports of nursery workers applying for a jab who aren't looking after vulnerable kids.
There are reports of them being turned away at the centres when they arrive for their appointment.
Mrs Rangercol was informed yesterday that they could get vaccinated and many of her co-workers have made appointments, but have been advised of the confusion. They are a private nursery and aren't in charge of vulnerable kids.
We'll see what happens when they arrive for their appointments.

But if they don't open the economy up asap, will they have got it right when the result will be the economy ruined even more, resulting in huge suffering and more ill health and deaths?
They can't win.

The prospect of a win is long gone. We are 8-0 down at half-time.

The damage has been done and they can only minimise it or maximise it. One can only hope the right people are listened to and lessons are learned from the horrendously poor decisions of the past to nick a goal or two back.

Yep it's a tricky situation to be fair mate. Opening up the economy with schools included would no doubt result in a rise in cases and more deaths. Many people are ****ed already regarding jobs and work. Some people argue that the public dont follow the rules, hence such devastating statistics in deaths, transmission and hospital admissions. The rules could be slackened soon (according to some reports) despite warnings from various scientific experts. If this happens sooner rather than later then again the results could be devastating. Unfortunately, I have very little faith in the government having learned anything over the past year odd. I dont have the answers either, I'm just a simple plasterer from Yorkshire, who damn well wishes he was mates with Hancock!!!

The biggest problem is the MSM love to drive the narrative and demand 'dates' that they can then use to criticise and claim incompetence. The latest is the 8th March which according to which rag you read Boris has 'promised', 'vowed', 'stipulated' or some such other description or twist on what was stated. I've listened to some of his and other minister's morning interviews and then seen how they are reported on news sites and the exaggeration or play on words gives a totally different slant on what was said, this is then picked up and run with across the board. The media are as much part of the problem as the virus...

Yeah the government are the real victims. They’ve done everything they could.

Seems there was an admin error which allowed ALL nursery workers to book appointments for a vaccine.
This has apparently been sorted out now and normal nursery workers can't book a jab.

They've been pretty hopeless in most things but the press, who don't actually have to try too hard, don't need to try and influence the decisions with some of their headlines, Christmas was a good example...

That all started before the November 'tiers', bad decision making fuelled by 'Christmas cancelled' headlines. Should have been a full lockdown but trying to avoid adverse headlines did them no favours. This happens with 24/7 news setting the agenda and weak leadership. The vax programme is about all they've got right since their furlough scheme...
 
The opportunity to eat at a safe restaurant (a good curry and a few beers would be just wonderful) with friends and family is certainly something to look forward to. It’s the social element that is missing for me. But needs to be done at the right time, not to appease the moaners. It’s tough decision making that needs to be done. We definitely don’t need a lockdown 4.0.

Still, the vaccinations are rolling on and at least provide a light at the end of the tunnel.
