I feels like we are being nuked with this virus. It's almost like when an area is doing okay it gets zapped.
A "feel-good" story for us all... Covid-19: Pupils' pizza donation leaves Stoke-on-Trent nurses 'in tears' 14 January 2021 please log in to view this image Tina Waltho posted a photo of the pizza boxes on Twitter and said one of her colleagues "was in tears" as she had barely eaten all day A nurse said she was "lost for words" after school pupils clubbed together to buy pizza for staff at their local critical care unit. Tina Waltho tweeted a photo of pizza boxes which she said turned up this week at the Royal Stoke University Hospital. A bit of investigating revealed they were a gift from a group of sixth form students. The tweet prompted a huge outpouring of praise on social media. 'Barely eaten' "At a time when healthcare staff feel so low and deflated, responses like this remind us that we are supported," critical care nurse Ms Waltho said. "The nurse who had been in charge on the day shift was in tears. She had barely eaten all day and was a little emotional." Ms Waltho's post has been retweeted thousands of times, with some people saying they would copy the students' example. Another wrote : "What an amazing gesture. The next generation make me proud." Medical staff across the country have been under pressure given the rising number of Covid-19 patients admitted to hospitals. www.bbc.co.uk/news/amp/uk-england-stoke-staffordshire-55670566
No idea Beth. I don’t get the impression that there is any tracing going on, the scale of current infections is overwhelming. Or at least it’s not being talked about. I would say though that there will inevitably be some problems, sometimes with horrible consequences, in an endeavour of this scale and speed. Overall I’m very impressed with the rate of vaccination that has been achieved so far, and it really does seem that supply rather than capacity is the rate limiting factor. As long as these bad news stories remain isolated (and I know this is no solace to those involved) and anecdotal rather than widespread and indicative of some systemic failure, then I think we have to try to avoid them but be realistic - **** happens.
The scale of infections would be less overwhelming if the tracing was being done efficiently and those traced were isolating. Perhaps the reason it's not being talked about is that the whole system has failed.
It was **** from day one, far too late to fix now. If they couldn’t do it when a couple of thousand a day tested positive, no hope with 50k. All faith now placed in the vaccines and lockdown. I think there might be many people who aren’t isolating after a positive test because they simply can’t afford to.
Stan:-Your mother's care home report, is something they really really really need to trace . If it is the vaccinator...they are carrying the infection from one vunerable person to another.. Do you know anything further
Seems to be a fair amount of fear about us allowing more strains into the country (like the Brazil one) and that eventually we'll let in ones that evade the vaccines, meaning we could have to start again. Might be unlikely but I really wish the Government would take protecting our borders seriously.
I'm surprised that's surprised you Bob, bearing in mind the various contracts the Govt have given out over the last year
It wasn’t my mum Beth, she can look after herself, had jab number one well before Christmas, should have had jab 2 last week..... it was something a mate told me about, down the road somewhere in Warwickshire. It’s Tramore’s Mum in Ireland.
So Bozza has finally realised we are an island. 12mths after the " Getting Brexit Done" based on wanting to control immigration and our borders, Bozza realises we can actually close access to our Island.Well done mate brilliant Job, 85K and counting
Restrictions broken for snowball fight https://news.sky.com/video/share-12188629 What a good idea that was
I wonder who some will blame now? What a bunch of irresponsible muppets. This thing will never go away when people act like this?
There's apparently anger over slow delivery of the first Covid vaccine. Pfizer chiefs say they predict a riot.
