I was pondering this earlier, and much as I’d like to have a go it’s pretty clear that incompetence rather than mendacity is at play, he and Shapps surely couldn’t believe no one would notice the rather large discrepancy? Officials given him wrong or misleading info, they are just as weak as politicians in this cluster......

Surely the Tories have to get shot of him asap. Its becoming embarrassing. Reading papers from around the world, they are in disbelief and basically taking the piss.

As long as he ‘gets Brexit done’ then he’s popular with Tory members and the other 99% of the country are irrelevant for another three years at which point the same stupid ****s as always will buy into the “only the Tories can repair the damage” line and vote for Sunak.

The lorry situation should be discussed on the politics thread because that’s what it is, a political stunt by France. And after Guy Verhofstadt’s tweet today It should tell anyone with a bit of sense exactly what this is about.
Let them all laugh at us now but when we leave let’s see how smug they are? I actually feel sorry for all those drivers that just want to get home for Christmas but are being delayed because of a cheap stunt.
Today we saw 600+ deaths. That should be a reminder that playing politics during a pandemic doesn’t help things. But still let’s all laugh at 1000 - 4000 lorries stuck at Dover.

In all seriousness Ellers, I agree with you that politics are at play and that it is not a funny situation at all.
The fact that the French are allowing French and EU citizens to cross the channel but not allowing UK citizens is a political stunt and is not right. Macron has an awful lot to answer for. Over here, we are allowing freight to travel both ways but the travel ban on people of all nationalities including Irish citizens living in the UK has been extended until 31st December. I think between now and the end of the year, the new strain will surface in lots of other countries and there will be no point in travel bans.

I think this new stain is probably all over the place now. Hopefully the government won’t cock up the vaccine distribution... then again.

You are correct Ellers and I agree about the stunt. However, people have the right to moan when the PM just makes up figures on national TV. I think even you would agree with that. It's a good job kent has become the National lorry park of Britain.
