Current testing and contact tracing is inadequate to prevent a second wave of coronavirus after schools in the UK reopen, scientists have warned.

Increased transmission would also result from parents not having to stay at home with their children, they say.

Researchers said getting pupils back to school was important - but more work was needed to keep the virus in check.
Current testing and tracing? The testing system that said all care homes would be part of a rolling, frequent testing programme by July 6th? But has actually got to less than 40% of just dementia care homes for the first round of testing, and won’t get to them all until the beginning of September? And won’t even send test kits to the all the other types of care homes until 31 August? Even though it’s regular testing that will help control spread in these environments?

The tracing system which is currently getting to only 50% of the people it needs to? The system which hasn’t even contacted people exposed to the virus who live in the same house as the infected person who has willingly and freely provided their contact info?

The £10bn test and trace system. Forgive me if big announcements about magic fast tests in little boxes don’t fill me with optimism. A parade of lies, missed targets and failures from our government coupled with a population which has enough people in it who are resistant to being inconvenienced in any way is a pretty toxic combination.

Do you think our government would have the balls to impose a Melbourne style lockdown? Do you think the necessary number of people would comply with it if they did?

Post Covid exam results in Scotland today. Lots of trepidation about the marking system as no exams were taken. Grades issued on teachers guidance, course work and prelim results. SQA then validated these against the standing of the school in the performance table for previous years, so they are expecting an increase in appeals.

Junior got his Higher results (same as A Level).....

An A in Music Technology, and a B in Business Management, so gets into the University of his choice - thank ****!
Congratulations to the boy. And no tuition fees, you lucky bastards (I presume he’s staying in Scotland). I hope he gets the chance actually go to uni rather than hanging around online.

They may not have the balls to impose it, but with fines up to £10,000 I think that would maybe convince people to adhere to it

Can’t imagine there are many opportunities to drink £1.25 vodka red bulls, finger a bird from Preston on the dancefloor and pass out on your bedroom floor next to half a kebab when studying from home. Simpler times.

Thanks mate. Yes, no tuition fees (he's off to Glasgow Caledonian). Distanced learning to start with, with plans to start classroom work in October

Scary times over here now.
There is much talk of moving to the even tougher stage 5 for Victoria.
Total work shut down.
No going out except food shopping once a week.
$5,000.00 fines for people supposed to be self isolating at home but who are not there. 800 People today, not at home when the army / police arrived for random checks.
$20,000.00 fine if you have co-vid19 and go to work.

The Victorian premier was on the news saying, ............'If you want to exercise and want fresh air, open a window and or exercise in your front or back yard."

Here in Queensland, we are lucky so far.
There are a number of idiots who are still lying there way into Queensland so of course, the majority will have to suffer because of the few if things turn to gravy.
Here, we can still go out, l've just started working again but that can change at a minutes notice.

Since April 4, l’ve worked a grand total of two weeks but in saying that, l know many others are doing it tougher. I’m not too bad so far.
As l said, scary times indeed.

I take it no appeal will be necessary

That looks much more like 1.3 million to me. It's clearly a doctored image . Even those of us who cannot read Danish can see that.

Congratulations - you must be well proud. So do those choices mean you will be giving us the inside info five years before his band starts ts first world tour or that his musical talents, while considerable, will be better suited to becoming the manager, agent, sound engineer or just a more modern and 'with it' musical producer than Cameron Mackintosh?

The German Federal President (blue shirt) met with a fellow politian from Austria on July 23rd.

No masks, no distance - that´s the very same man who insulted the 1,3 million protesters in Berlin last weekend, a bloody hypocrite.

A very scary figure I have been told today: In average there are normally 80.000 visitors to Harrods every day - this has come down to 650. The second lockdown this autumn will kill the industry completely.

And a live video from Berlin (less than 2 minutes). The media is telling everyone those were Nazis, Right Wing etc. and just 17.000 of course.

They are doing this in the similar way world wide and that and it will especially destroy the SME´s.

Cheers pal. I think he'd have me believe that himself and his band are set for musical greatness, and the business degree is going to be back-up....but he's pretty grounded so think he's hoping to do something in managing music events from the business side.

But who knows, we could have the next big thing bashing drums in my basement!
