He is in a lose lose situation. If he saves us, people like Watford will say he should of acted quicker. If many die then again people will hold him responsible.

As all the unbiased experts have been saying all along. Boris Has been listening to the medical people all the way and as things have changed he has adapted.
It’s not about political points scoring and all you Boris haters need to stop moaning about him and give him a chance.

They ignored, pretty much uniquely, the WHO advice and that was with the luck of seeing mainland Europe’s situation unfold and being days and weeks behind. There’s really no debate that that was a horrendous decision.

Sadly we are beyond that point. There is no saving us. There is just damage limitation. The measures put in place recently and long ago won’t be sufficient to limit the damage as much as possible.

I agree. People won’t get heed the advice until they start seeing people they know die en masse. It’s no surprise that some people are any or all of dumb/ignorant/arrogant but too many just aren’t seeing the gravity of this situation and need to be forced indoors for the good of others. Advice isn’t enough sadly. We are at the point we need to be forced.

No doubt it's coming. Timing is everything. If government move too soon, people will get fed up and come out of their homes just when the virus is at its worst, and the NHS won't be able to cope.

Sad video of a health worker is going round - she'd been working long and unsociable hours, went to the supermarket and found empty shelves. Supermarkets have a duty to protect considerate people from the greedy pigs and carpetbaggers.

At the end of the day, Boris and his government will be judged on a comparitive basis, with how other countries have done. At the moment, Germany seems to be doing well with few deaths. Otherwise there are some basket cases on the Continent in the south

It’s not just that Goldie. I’ve just taken the dog for a stroll (my greatest fear, on a personal level, in all this is being confined to my house when I feel fine). The number of people, including the elderly, who simply ignore the 6ft rule, possibly through ignorance, is staggering. (Is it 6ft? That’s the advice that my company doctor has broadcast to us all, two arms lengths, but I can’t remember the UK guidance). I was swerving out of the way of people who needed to walk 3 abreast on the pavement constantly. A woman with an elderly lady in a wheelchair, who looked like she has some kind of neurodegenerative disease, was calling people over to chat to them.

The government has tried to treat us like grown ups, but clearly not enough of us are, and soon there will be fines and being shouted at.

I’ve been quite impressed with the supermarkets. We can’t expect them to be responsible for the behaviour of selfish bastards. Individuals need to be accountable for their own actions, let’s not transfer blame.

Agree that will come, Stan. And I concede it is difficult to carry on life on the edge of sensible precautions. This morning, the electrician has been here for 3 hours. This afternoon, I'm having my hair cut be a nice lady who works from home. I don't know where either of them have been, and they don't know where I've been. We'll all have to shop in a supermarket (and try to keep the 6ft rule - but difficult at the checkout till).

But just to continue socialising wildly seems to be irresponsible to me.

Don't agree on this one, Stan. Supermarkets have a duty imo to bring in rationing. People are buying up all the meat on the meat counter. Carpetbaggers are buying all the alcohol handwashes on the shelf and selling them with a huge mark-up on Ebay. We know those arseholes are out there. Supermarkets should protect us from them.

Incidentally, the meat example is a real one told to me yesterday by a friend. The manager (Tesco's, Borden, Hampshire) didn't allow a woman to buy all the meat, even though she was protesting she could pay for it. Need more of that manager's reaction

I can shed some insight into Germany as I have 2 good friends that live work there. My English mate works in Pharma industry and is currently here in the U.K. he has been told he can’t return for 4 weeks ( if planes are flying) and on return must self isolate for 2 weeks.
The other is German and works for their NHS. She sent me a pic only yesterday of her office. As she works in admin and meets the public they have erected a glass/plastic screen on her desk and visitors sit behind.

You see that is also incorrect.
Just about everyone ignored WHO yes including France. We acted to the situation. At the time this wa# kicking off we had about 10 cases (confirmed, however there were probably many more). What you expect us to do all stop work and isolate? That can’t happen mate.

Yes retailers probably could do more but many members of staff are fed up with abuse from moronic customers

My son is working long hours in a Sainsbury's to try to keep shelves with at least some stock on them yet the verbal abuse is common

He is not earning a big salary - in fact he doesn't get overtime at anything more than basic rate

No one is paid to get abused at work

The supermarkets and suppliers are doing there collective best but the public needs to do their bit too

No excuse for abusing staff. I heard on the news today that nurses are getting abused at work FFS. They keep saying its like wartime... but people were never like this in 1939-45. Yes there were a few idiots who would profit from others but generally the people were more normal. My late mum told me that a fews years back. Sadly this country has changed and sometimes not for the better.

I've been working from home this week, I had enough to keep me going although next week is a different matter, as both Mrs TR and I had some symptoms with sore throats, chesty feeling, not feeling 100%. We've gone out for the odd walk and most have observed the social distancing guidelines except bloody joggers who seem to think that a couple of feet is right as they pant and gasp their way past you...…..feckers…...
