BBC really trying hard to make today’s numbers less scary than they seem, I think way prematurely. As we all know by now the numbers are hyper dodgy anyway because of the lack of testing and uncertainty about how a coronavirus death is defined.

On my allotted exercise period today I noticed several police/community police walking in the parks of Leamington. In ten years of living here I cannot remember ever seeing a copper in a park before, except for the time I called an ambulance because a bloke had had a heart attack. I didn’t see them being ridiculous with anyone, and certainly they didn’t approach me, but I thought it was quite telling.

B team out today that Sharma bloke who is apparently a business secretary.

Why do the presenters on these conferences have to ask for slides to be moved on? It’s a click of a sanitised button FFS. And as Bob has pointed out, the graphs are of zero help anyway.

This is a sad indictment of 'soundbite government', same old rhetoric for each problem that emerges but no one is joining up the dots. They appear to be congratulating themselves too far in advance and then getting found out, as you say it's a f*cking shambles...

All QPR staff have taken a voluntary pay cut to help the club deal with the current economic challenges posed by COVID-19.

Am I right in saying that’s jut ‘non playing’ staff ? Meaning the players are still on full pay ? I’m assuming their pay is being negotiated by the players union

****ing Peston with his customary question which takes ten minutes to ask and is primarily about enabling us to bask in his journalistic brilliance. Bet he was pissed off that Keunssberg got her usual opening slot to screech about what a disaster everything is. These twats make me sympathetic to the idiots they are questioning, which is some trick.

It appears that his role in this session is to first mumble "I wonder if you might like to take that one, Yvonne?" then have something fed through to his lectern to make him look like he knows what's going on.

Surely, the correct strategy is to copy and quadruple what South Korea is doing when you look at their death rate versus everybody else?

Fair enough and I’m totally for union negotiation (if that’s who’s doing the negotiating). Just feel if the tea lady or cleaner is having to ‘voluntarily’ take a pay cut then the players should be ‘voluntarily’ taking one as well.

Yeah but it’s getting dull now. The first team are clearly being kept out the firing line.

Ok, I have no idea if this is credible but this is the kind of evidence that we need to be discussing. This article implies that only 12% of the deaths recorded could be solely due to COVID19.

    Utterly pathetic

So the lowest paid at the club have to take a pay cut (oh...Sorry..."volunteered") or are paid by us the taxpayers, while the highest paid - the players - show no leadership and hide behind the PFA/League

    Ludicrous

While some of the players will be on very good money, some won’t. Some will be supporting entire extended families potentially. Who knows?

I don’t think it’s right that the staff on a relative pittance will have their pay cut and for the amount that will be in the grand scheme of the club’s outgoings I can’t imagine it makes a huge difference, but I don’t think that means players should automatically go without wages or see a huge cut. If the players who can afford it offered to do so then great. Even better if that could be used to top up the regular staff.

I disagree mate.....if the tea lady can ‘volunteer’ for a wage cut then why can’t the players ? As I said though, probably letting the players union do the negotiating for them

Definitely. I think it was yourself or Goldy who mentioned the numbers but exactly how many would die daily regardless of covid19. Someone is on deaths door, they find a trace of the virus and they are joined to the growing statistic. We need some transparency.

I didn't suggest a huge cut or no wages for the players

It would be good if they took the same pain as the rest of the staff - if the non playing staff lose 10% then so do the players (for example)

No good Grant banging on about what a great club it is, great staff blah blah blah and then the players not doing their bit
