Could someone please explain to me the obsession with the flu? Are we actually talking about the virus Influenza? Relatively few people die of the actually influenza virus in this country and it certainly wouldn't be statistically significant to the death toll if it was added over the last few months. You find most people (and even online articles) who talk about the "flu" are actually referring to Influenza and pneumonia as a catch all term for respiratory deaths which to me is even more baffling considering, firstly that most pneumonias are caused by bacterial infections (strep aurus, staph aurus etc), aspiration or even fungal infections rather than the vius influenza. And secondly, pneumonia is a symptom of an underlying condition (pneumon - lung | Ia - Inflammation) rather than an actual cause of disease.
There's definitely a debate to be had about how to interoperate the stats but I think a most pressing pandemic at the moment is how a first world country can produce a population with such a low level of intelligence. (That's not aimed at anyone on this forum but just my experience in the last few months.)
