Close the ****ing parks, fine the bastards who do this but DO NOT ban outdoor exercise. Name and shame the ****ers who disregard the simple advice given.

Following reports of crowded parks this weekend, the heath secretary warned on Sunday that the government may resort to banning outdoor exercise.

Absolutely Norm. Clamp down on them. There must be a way of withdrawing their right to go for a walk if they get caught doing this. The sensible folk will be locked down alongside these idiots. It should just be the idiots that it gets taken away from.

The alarming thing about todays talk was that the worst hit areas might be the first areas where restrictions slackened first. I.e London get allowed out before everyone else. They should have been locked down before anyone else! I live in the Yorkshire Dales and there are quite a few Londoners coming up here to their "2nd homes" to escape the virus. Problem is that they are bringing it with them. Selfish c**nts. If the lockdown is released early in London guess where these ****ers will be going?

I don't think they should close the parks as particularly in the inner cities as it's the only green area for taking exercise. And green spaces can help enormously for people's mental health in these areas.

Having said that, if it's abused by ignoring the guidelines, I'd punish the offenders harshly:

First offence: if they're receiving 'wages' handouts from the Government, they lose it. Let them find out what it's like to live on benefits. If not, an exceptionally heavy fine.
Second offence: as there's no prison space available, they automatically enrol themselves in a Government scheme that literally brings together these offenders - in an Army Camp with a 'shoot to kill' policy, if required. The possibility of them literally facing a potential death sentence should make the rest of the country sit up & realise just how dangerous their behaviour has been.

Let's not get all snowflakey about this - these people are potential mass murderers. They could kill one or all of us on here.

Absolutely! The people who are not adhering to the instructions are the ones spreading it further setting us back weeks and driving up the death toll and hospital bills. Not to mention crippling the economy further by delaying the exit plan. Future generations will have to pay for this but then again its largely the younger ones flouting the rules!

Errrr...I live and work in London. Really ****s me off though that the majority of people can be trusted to go out for a walk and observe the rules but these ****ers are just too dense to work it out that hanging around in groups is just making matters worse. I think that enough time has been given for it to sink in so anybody gathering in groups should have the book thrown at them. Why the **** should the rest of us suffer even more.

It's not just Londoners that piss me off. The same thing happened in Italy. The north was really bad and loads of them packed up and drove south to get away from it. That just spread it even quicker. We are now seeing the same things here. It's really not difficult. Just stay inside. Don't travel around the country. Sit on your arse and stay away from other people.

Scenario - London block of flats, bit tight on space, no garden, family is two sons and both parents, money is tight so the kids don't have the latest game machines and the kids are between 5 and 10 years old. Remember, the flat has no garden, for the permitted exercise is it wrong for the father to walk to the park with his sons and have a 30 minute kick about with a football?

This is against the rules I know but is it really wrong? Could you imagine just walking round the park with two boys who have no garden to enjoy the fresh air, when they get back home it is board games or TV? Could you understand someone who decided it was okay? I know the video link I posted was more sitting in the park enjoying the sunshine but is it all too black and white?

I have a friend on Facebook who lives in Cornwall, the minute the clampdown was announced Londoners flooded to Cornwall, you should have seen the images of traffic that she posted up, I'm not joking the queues were several miles long, by all accounts the locals were getting together to make those travelling to the area know they were not welcome

Trouble is, there are lots of people that live in Cornwall but work in London.
Could have been mass exodus to go home to be with their families.

I get that argument, I really do. It's not against the rules to go out and exercise everyday. I'm thinking kicking a ball about in a park is ok. However if that park is full then unlucky.

I feel for people living in the cities. Its 100x harder than what I am going through. I can't imagine getting on the tube at the moment. Unfortunately this thing is going to hit the cities really hard because of the population density. It's not singling people out. The facts are that city dwellers are going to have to make the biggest sacrifices (at the moment).

Agree but a waste of time when you continue to have flights from China, Italy and Spain coming into the uk without checks. Skiing brigade haven’t helped.

Like Christmas eve heaving. Had to queue for 25 mins to get to a check out with people in and out of my personal space, mostly the ****ing staff I might add!

Probably got more exposure to potential virus than I had the entire previous month! That needs sorting! Was a right breeding ground!

Stores in LA are doing a good job of limiting how many people can go into a store at the same time. Not unusual to see lines of 6-20 people outside a store, spaced appropriately apart, about 6 feet.

Relative of mine went to stay in her sisters holiday house in Devon. Came back because the locals made it very clear they were not welcome. TBH I see their point - though it wasn't a holiday area, she had come from central London FFS.

My local M&S are very good like that. Helped by the fact most people go to the larger out of town M&S. Short queue outside is well spaced, staff let people in one at a time (I would guess about 15 people max in what is a decent sized supermarket), the baskets and trolleys are all sanitised between use, you have to take yours back to the door to be sanitised when you leave.

They have been doing that here for the last 10 days or so. Yesterday I spent about 10 mins satnding in line welll spaced at sainsburys and once inside it was almost a pleasure as everybody kept there distance....might have been due to the fact I was wearing a mask.
