From a selfish point of view I just don't know what I can do if we go on lockdown apart from the odd shopping trip and work. What am I going to do with my 7 year old lad? Both me and the wife work full time!

It's going to be a weird situation.

Unless you both work in an essential service you won’t be working . Have a good look at this

Yeah, my wife works with a guy who is based in Italy. He is only allowed out for essential food and medication. He has been in lockdown since Monday. A similar scene outside his apartment.

There’s all this talk of a lock down but what does it really mean
We all need food to survive someone has to produce it, someone has to deliver it someone has to put it on the shelves someone has to take my money and I need fuel to get to the shop who delivers the fuel who takes my money, so on and so forth what do we mean by a lock down

I dunno. Alot of fresh produce comes from Italy/Spain.

What exactly have the government said they have got under control

They are saying that they know the exact point at which to do certain things like stopping social gatherings over 1000 or when to close schools or even lockdown. They have no clue how many people currently have this as we can't test quickly enough. The figures they are working to are purely guesswork.

As in all countries if you think about it

What I am waiting for is for the government to step in and stop over purchasing of products and to stop profiting by some wholesalers and retailers
Pure supply and demand as a pricing policy should be outlawed
That’s what I think anyway

All any governments is they are following the advice of their leading medical experts. Check it out, that’s the line of every government. That’s fine but here’s the problem Emu, the leading experts advice in each country radically different. The uks and Ireland are poles apart hence we’ve one setup in 26 counties in Ireland while the North seems to be lagging about two weeks behind

Evening all from lockdowned Spain,
So 48hours in, we are only allowed out for very basic things, food chemists and walking your dog( but you cant use this as an excuse to go for a long walk)
Police have been forcing people on pushbikes, joggers etc to go home.
They have called in the army to help if needed, so civilians can use army hospitals, army doctors and nurses will be available.
As today is sunday anyway all shops are closed, I don't know what will happen tomorrow as supermarkets reopen.
I live in a house with a garden so can at least get outside, living in a block of flats with kids must be very hard.
It will be interesting to see how this evolves as people will start going stir crazy.

Stay safe. I posted a video from Benidorm and it really is an eye opener for anyone still being flippant about this

Stir crazy I’ve been on self imposed isolation for four days and I’m already going bonkers

Yes, I've allready noticed that time has no meaning, we eat when hungry, sleep when tired, get up without an alarm clock
Tomorrow my kids go to my exs so I will be proper home alone, lets see how that is!

Oh, and whatever the government think.... they have not got this under control nor can they control it.
They just want to prolong it so that hospitals can cope better. 70% of us will get this virus this year, the majority will feel no worse than when they get a cold but it’s the non majority the government are gearing up for, the over 70s and those with health issues.

Whatever their reasons Ristac you best prepare your family, business etc as in two weeks you’ll be heading into what Spain did this week and where we’re heading Tuesday. That’s the reality

We’re going for a different approach mate, I’ve spoke to a few in the health profession who actually agree with the government’s approach. You can’t wipe this virus out, it’s got to run it’s course. The Government want the young and healthy to catch this at a controlled pace and recover, enough need to catch it to spread it but the conundrum is how do you not pass it on to the vulnerable.

Our hospitals need to be clear of elderly patients suffering normal flu and we need as much staff as possible so that’s what they’re gearing for. They are really in a no win position, there is no real answer and I’d personally trust our scientists over others.

Possibly but the Spanish and Italians didn’t listen to the self isolate yourself advice so it went out of control. They’re not on lockdown to wipe this out, it’s because their hospitals are at breaking point.
