Less than a mile down the road from me, they are converting a sports centre into a hospital, the builders and sparkies have been working around the clock. A pharmacist friend of mine has said you wait until this coming weekend has passed, it’s about to go large.
Yes we are a week away from hundreds a day dying if we are on the Italian path. No one's saying more die on the roads a day any more as that was 5 a day.

Round here it was noticeably quieter today but some still treating it like a holiday. I’ve called it the flu and I’ve said let it run it’s course but.... I’ve seen first hand how scared the old folk are this week as I’ve been out delivering for a pharmacy. I’m still getting strange looks as I’m having to wear a protective mask but I’ve felt sorry for the vulnerable as many are petrified.

I upset 2p and Jammy yesterday with my Prince Charles comment, I can’t stand Prince Charles or his brother Andrew and I’m sorry but I have zero sympathy for either but they don’t help themselves. He is 70 years old, receives better healthcare than the rest of us could ever imagine and they announced today that he is doing well and working at his desk through it.

What does that kind of statement say to the elderly? Don’t worry it’s nothing?

Day 13 of total lockdown here,
No one bats an eyelid anymore at facemasks, I wear a full blown one, used for spray painting normally.
Even had a few comments in the supermarket about it!
Supermarket is totally stocked, no problems, people keep their distance and no more panic buying.
I also shop for my mum 75, and her disabled neighbour, leave the stuff on the doorstop, ring the bell, walk away.
Cops are getting pissed off with people lying for their reasons to be in the street, fines , and some locked up for blatant bullshit
Surprisingly as the days go by it gets easier, this isn't going to go away anytime soon.
STAY HOME AND STAY SAFE.
MOT.

Epidemiologist are you, funnily enough I have a brother who is and his take on it was in every other species the old and sick cop it. He doesn't consider the human race special in that regard. Me I'd say follow what you've been told but then I'm not a scientist.

What's everyones view on wearing masks and protective gloves ?

My basic research seems to show that wearing a mask probably won't stop you catching the virus but will help to stop spreading it if you're already infected. Gloves seem to be effective as long as you don't touch your face etc and then dispose of and wash your hands.

The secondary question is;

As I have a few masks and a couple of boxes of gloves should I be donating these to the NHS as they seem to be in short supply.

Incidentally I bought these items years ago when bird flu etc was in the news and have never used them.
Care home would be better.

Here a question if there is anyone with any medical knowledge who may answer it. With Covid 19 the virus itself doesn't kill you it causes pneumonia which kills you, now there's no vaccine for covid 19,but there is a vaccine for pneumonia and lots of the rich and government people across the world seem to be having it but non for the plebs, why ?

Not strictly true, Chesh. We get an anti Pneumonia jab every five years, free. Don't know how much good it would do the present circumstances but I guess it's better than nothing.

No medical knowledge here but I do know something.

When I went for my free NHS flu jab they told me they now do a pneumonia vaccination, also free. You have to be over 65 or at special risk to qualify.

Then the nurse said ‘but we are out if stock, give us a call to arrange one’

so I did - twice - and each time they were out of stock and the second time they admitted they hadn’t had any for ages. I smelt ‘Tory cuts’ at this point.

I then found out you can buy one at Boots. But I didn’t bother....... now of course you can’t even get on the Boots website.

no idea how much it would help but wish I’d had it.

Seriously chaps, I know some of you voted for them because of Brexit and because Corbyn might be a teentsy bit of a terrorist loving, anti Semite tolerating, old style Marxist (allegedly) - but it’s coming out all over the place how the cuts the Tories have made have undermined our essential services to the point it’s put us at risk ..... and it’s also clear now that there WAS a magic money tree all along. FFS get rid next time. They are poison. (Just a personal opinion).
