Any contractors/Self Employed on here who can recommend me an accountant?

Come to the end of the road with my lazy motherfucker of an accountant

Ideally looking for someone who does stuff online rather than excel or paper based. Someone who is proactive with advice rather than just being binary

Never rely on them being proactive. With the best will in the world they have many clients, so you should understand everything that needs to be done albeit at a higher level. You're still liable if something is not done correctly.
I'd always go local, and avoid the big firms like SJD. Overpriced and bad service.

I used Geoffrey Nathan https://www.gnaccounts.com/ (but I think that's a fictional character, they're really Suren and George). They're reasonably priced and efficient, but not very proactive/communicative, they just do what needs to be done.

Whereabouts are you based - we are in Gateshead - we are a two partner chartered accountancy firm but I may know others if needed

Depends where you live. But I used a local accountant who was fine. Not sure what you need, or if she'd be suitable, but I can share the number if you'd like and you could ask her. Let me know.

I can probably help you mate.

I'm a pretty good accountant but semi-retired so only looking after two clients in between my other interests. I give each 40% of my spare time which would leave 30% to help you with your accounts.
