It's a shame this form has come just as he enters the last year of his contract. If he gets a couple more before the end of the season he will be off in the summer imo.
I hate to say it but I think he will be advised not to resign for us in the summer which will force us to sell him cheaper than he is worth. Gutted because only now is he becoming the player he promised to be.
Whoever deals with the contracts at our club needs to get him signed up as soon as were safe. Replacing him is impossible, it would cost s fortune, look at how much we paid out for the likes of Jozy and Fletcher and neither of them have exactly got us excited. Its big money to sign an premiership goalscorer, a young English one is even more sought after. We must keep him at all costs.
I said after the pen that Wickham needs to score again to be our top scoring league striker! And he duly obliged! Wickham 5 goals Borini 4 goals Fletcher 3 goals Altidore 1 goal
Here's the thing - Yes we love Bruce. Why? Promotion at the 1st attempt, kept us safely in the PL (we've never really been in trouble) and he has led us to our 1st ever FA Cup Final. Here's another thing - we don't expect to ever finish in the top half of the Premier League under SB or anyone else. With his record so far - making him our most successful manager to date, I can guarantee we won't turn on him as we know how difficult it is to keep a club of our stature in the Premier League. Maybe he signed some crap players for you on big money but every manager makes mistakes in the transfer market sometimes. Seems to me SB has learnt lessons in this area and I don't see us splashing the cash on players that won't improve us. Sometimes a manager and a club just fit one another - Bruce does for us - and for your sake I hope Poyet does for you. No doubt we will see you at the KC next season
to be fair tony along with myself on this board you have had faith in conner right from the start and have constantly called for a run of games to give him the chance to be the striker in the team,as we know today he was awarded mon for his display i agree and dont if you know what i mean ,yes he scored the goals and led the line brilliantly but for me once again it was jack colback who covered every inch of the pitch again ,if safc let this lad slip away through whatever reason it will be a calamity imo.. Fantastic result and at last things went for us.
Sad reality with Colback stu is that it's completely out of Sunderlands hands. All up to Colback. I don't think he'd be that difficult to replace though. I like the lad and he's been good recently but that type of player are a Litt easier to get than a goal scoring striker. Also a lot cheaper
i dont think thats the case baz ,its a lot to do with the fact that connor has started to prove himself right and as quinn said today he has taken things on board within his own behaviour about being at a bigger club you still must work ,to be fair as i have said in the past who has he had at safc to coach him ,this alone has probably held him back imo, its as if the sleeping wickham has been woken like a bear cut short of his winter nap,hes hungry and angry. could be a long shot for brazil ?
