Must be the only one to have lost its airborne status..... 7 Para RHA of the RLC Where do the cooks hide again? Knew it
It lost it's airborne status for a few years solely due to defence cutbacks, it was never anything to do with the RLC (jokingly called the Rather Large Corps) though, that lot was formed in 1993, a good few years after I left the mob. If you know your history and all that http://www.army.mod.uk/artillery/units/6798.aspx The Airborne Gunners We deploy alongside the Parachute Regiment; our elite soldiers are trained to parachute into battle with their guns. 7 Para RHA the Army's only parachute light gun regiment, the Airborne Gunners primary role is to provide artillery support to 16 Air Assault Brigade. This demands a high level of training, agility and readiness to deploy on operations
7 Para in Ireland For their use of artillery against their civilian opposition or.....the high number of catering staff employed by 7 Para for potato surplus........hmm
If you read it properly you will see that 7RHA were deployed in an "infantry" role, I should know. We did have Cooks though, they "cooked" as one would expect, sadly (or fortunately depending on your view) I was neither a cook, nor a Chef, simply a lowly "Lance Bombardier" with no specific cooking duties except in the field where I had to make my own scran
Hence the reason for the loss of airborne status.... Sarge, Dev ****ed up breakfast....we canny face a jump......ever again
I have a valid defence, they had already lost their airborne status when I joined then in 1977, they got it back when i was there, so I suppose it could be argued that it was down to me that we regained the Red beret
Your choice for discussion is very poor taste. The fact that the Paras' leader had not the manners or decency to apologise. His hench men on account of their continuous lie telling (as per instructions from above) and the truth could be ascertained was by legal proof attained by lawyers. This article and its sneering is as insulting as the Ibrox disaster. At least the people of Derry could not control the British Army attack. Maybe with more care and attention the Ibrox disaster could be avoided.
The article and it's content was tongue in cheek, you missed that. As for apologies those are a two way street.
