So once again, remind me what is the minimum number of points the SAME SQUAD has achieved in the 4 years since we've been in the NPC.
Irrelevant. This isn't Brazil and we don't stay up based on how good we were in previous seasons.
Additionally, four years is a long time in football and we've got a ton of new players and have said goodbye to just as many. Players also get older. If you can say in all truth that our squad is good enough to do well in the Championship then arguing this point is as good as useless.
The CURRENT squad is comfortably capable of staying up, it just had no rudder, no leadership to direct it and this drift was just getting worse as time went on under KM - it will soon find its way out of trouble with the right man in charge...
I'd chalk this comment down to wishful thinking at best, and naivety at worst.
The reason we're not doing well isn't completely down to the manager. We've had that excuse for three different men and we'll have the same excuse when the squad under-performs. Yes, we've made some poor investments and Millen was the wrong guy at the wrong time, but a lot of fans would agree that the squad is simply not good enough. They're good enough to survive, but a lot of damage has already been done.
I'd love for us to stay up this year as a number of players are out of contract (if I recall) and we'll free up a lot of money by getting these players out, with SL possibly willing to put some more money into the side. However, I don't subscribe to the idea that a manager can just walk into a side and have them playing great football.
Quite simply, bollocks...
I did agree about the money initially however the longer this goes on, the more sure I am that SL (and NOT CS) is making sure that he gets the right man to spend his last fling before the Financial Fair Play Rules kick in. I gather we have something like 20 players out of contract at the end of this year which if true, will allow for some investment..
Where's our new manager then? Where's the big names being interviewed?
We've not made a move for McInnes, if Sky is to be believed, and that's probably because he'll cost money and he's not got the experience we need. We're also not looking to poach anyone from another side, so that leads me to believe that we're looking for someone on the cheap.
Yes, it's something that needs to be addressed with the utmost thought. However, none of the names being thrown around fill me with any confidence.
